You can get a TDS meter and verify, but extended storage in plastic in a cellar or closet is fine and certainly beats dehydration in a bad situation. Expected TDS is 0-1 ppm vs 0 to 0.5 for properly washed and sterilized glass (hard to do at home). The main thing you'll get in distilled water in an HDPE jug is a trace amount of plasticizers (not good) but we're talking less than 1 PPM and that's less exposure from a whole gallon than being around plastic or foam passively for a day. 0.003785g on the high end.
