@astronema I've never witnessed this, no. Every transfemme I know is struggling to make rent, struggling to keep their servers paid for -- I run Disqordia at a loss and will never have the patreon amounts that these people do.
Transfemmes also have the hardest time obtaining employment as well so we should be the ones given help but I'd love to see where these mythical super supported transfemmes are you've seen

@eris @astronema all the transfems I know irl are white (because this city's demographics are cursed) and all of us are broke as fuck. in my case, I don't even feel comfortable with asking people for money at all because of exactly these bullshit narratives being leveraged against transfems that we somehow have it better than other queers. it becomes a question of the optics for even daring to ask for help from anyone, especially knowing that literally everyone in my circles irl and online is broke as fuck

I swear people have brainrot in thinking that because a few trans youtubers exist and because we're less likely to be assaulted than TWoC that our whiteness gives us a free giant YouTube income and endless privilege as if transmisogny isn't a unique form of oppression that's grossly violent regardless

@eris @astronema the thing is that it's absolutely true to a certain extent that there is a "white tranny" problem, but it also obfuscates the problem of whiteness and how it functions in a real material sense to act like white transfems have a significant degree of privilege. the entire origins of the concept of whiteness (a fake racial category) was in having to trick European proletarians into thinking that their status of being included into a racial category made their situation notably better than that of people who aren't in it -- but really, what it in practice meant is not any positive benefits so much as negative ones (being *less likely* to experience direct state/police violence).
this situation is why you have the opioid crisis in the US, because the white middle class in the US has started to disappear and there's increasingly little obvious benefit to being "white". but these people have been given a sense of entitlement for it, so they self-destruct either individually or on a collective scale -- 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢. it's always a loss of the things white people are supposedly entitled to that leads to this.
now tell me this, is there any demographic of white people who benefits less from whiteness than transfems? the only thing I can think of is that I'm less likely to experience police violence for being white if I'm in a blue state, and even that isn't always the case. did you know that in New York City if you're visibly transfem and have condoms on your person you can get arrested and charged with solicitation? and if you ever get put in jail while transfem, you will be subject to the most inhumane conditions pretty much anyone in western society can experience. they literally keep transfems in prison cells reserved for "good inmates" to rape them.
the "white tranny" problem, again, is a problem, but it's a problem because of mentally ill lumpen transfems who fall for the same reactionary bullshit as other white lumpens. and it's a problem specifically because it excludes TWoC, who are to be clear more likely to deal with the worst forms of transmisogyny than the rest of us. but this isn't a fucking problem for TMEs to solve. it certainly isn't their place to continue to perpetuate this bullshit narrative about the privileged white tranny that 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙒𝙤𝘾 and functions in that sense as another perverse intersection of both transmisogyny and white supremacy.

@nyx @astronema it also comes down to class privilege too, because a lot of white transfemmes are profiled as sex workers or are sex workers and don't experience less violence from police.
If you're a rich white trans woman yeah you're gonna deal with less than everyone else. But that's the flaw of reductionary class analysis when you boil someone down to just their whiteness for internet points

@nyx @eris @astronema I also think the "white trans woman" meme sort of contributes to erasing people across different parts of the spectrum of race and ethnic background like, white-passing folks who nonetheless bare the scars of generational trauma & the more economic aspects of structures racial oppression (and ofcourse subjected to the violence of white gaze even in their "passingness" which is always fraught).
I also think the way Whiteness is utilized in this trope echoes of when the same kind of logic is applied to white-passing jewish folks.
One thing I will say about your rant above though is you're (ofcourse given ur own perspectives and what is really ur place to speak on) perhaps centering how whiteness affects white people specifically - its not just something created to fool the white working class but also as a Tool to gradually dispose of those subject to racialised gazes.

like sex, sexiness & sex work look different to the gaze of like professionalism, vs people who know what a red light district or a brother or other forms of "street" sex work may look like

@til @astronema @nyx and you'll notice the people who throw fediblocks constantly against trans women are fairly affluent. They all have large patreons to "focus on their art", they come from pretty safe financial backgrounds, they're people in their 40s owning houses not transfemmes struggling for rent.
A lot of the clashing is due to less class privileged folks not performing to the standards of those who think all class consciousness requires is perfect performance, who never do the leftist work of engaging with those in need.

@til @eris @astronema yeah, getting into a broader discussion of whiteness, the more that the settler-colonialism which necessitated creating racial categories developed, the more it gave material privileges to white people in exchange for their complicitness in the subjugation of POC. this again is the origins of the white middle class and where the concept of a labor aristocracy makes sense, because it's not something that has always been just a way of tricking the white working class, it also has at times resulted in them benefiting from it materially. there is a point where white people arguably cease to meaningfully even be proletarian, but it's also temporary until another crisis in capital happens

as ultraleftists will put it, class and race are not per se identities or properties of individuals but they are a System that applies to the economic structure of power. In other words, in a sense, there are no proletarians or bourgeois individuals only proletarian or bourgeois economic forms & structures & logics

@nyx @eris @astronema my city (which is a different city) is basically the exact same as this. every trans femme, white or not, has been pretty much in poverty or at the very least relying on a wealthier cis partner or middling supportive parents as age mid 20s somethings to 30s somethings to eat and be housed. straight up have been friends with trans femmes from other parts of the country who were homeless at one point and are still teetering on the brink of going back to that state on a constant basis. I was legally homeless myself for a year hiding out in my polycule's decrepit studio apartment until a cis friend was able to help us out. of all the trans femmes I have ever met personally in my life, I have met one that actually had her own money and that was a trust fund so that might not even count.

@Maxine @eris @astronema @lydiaposting this sorta thing is probably why so many transfems are poly. there's a material incentive to have to rely on each other to survive because otherwise it's like, what else are you gonna do other than get very lucky (or come from money) or rely on a cis chaser?
though in practice this tends to just result in trauma bonding because everyone is mentally ill and desperate and not really conscious of all these things

@nyx @eris @astronema @lydiaposting just to throw in my own experience i am also technically homeless now and i am applying for benefits and wondering what the fuck im even gonna do for a job or anykind of income given how fucked up my anxiety is and idk how ill afford to settle into a home thats already very impoverishd with a mom who couldkick me out at any time. i haveno friends, no support, im not white, and everytime i go outi get so many stares.. before this i was living with a cis guy in a hetero relationship and it was good and i was safe and secure even ifi wasincredibly depressed living in a suburb. i dont know how there are transfems who arent living the way i do buti ts telling that they tend to be white and in a straight relationship with a cis man... its really fuckedme up.. i want my girlie.. i dont want to have to rely and rely on cis men just to survive..

yeah, I'm literally one of these people, and I'm one of the lucky ones. things could have been a lot fucking worse for me than they were. and I was also "legally homeless" for even longer, sharing a garage with one of my irls in an overcrowded tranny sharehouse that was organized by someone who had been preying on transfems for like a decade and had been accused of sexual assault by dozens of transfems. she would specifically seek out people like the ones living here who were desperate and had nowhere else to go.
shit like this is the reality of being transfem that TMEs don't understand. and, once again, all of us involved were white, which speaks both to how absolutely destitute the reality is for most transfems and how *even still* we're luckier than most. I'm lucky that I'm even still alive to talk about any of this, and that's what the end goal of transmisogyny is, to stop transfems from being able to talk about the political reality of our circumstances as an oppressed class. they do it by silencing and disposing of us socially and ideally also making it so we don't survive at all, because everyone I've ever known who has gone through similar sorts of hardships like me and my irls ends up being a radical, usually baeddel or g/acc or some other t4t-centric politics. they don't want this because they're scared of the righteous revolutionary terror that is coming the more a transfem political consciousness develops.

@nyx @astronema @eris mhm. the vulnerability is what gets us too. all manner of vile abusive pests will utilize that desperation for food and shelter to gain personal conquests, sexual or otherwise. It literally took over two years before I'm finally now in a position where I trust my cis friend because myself and partners have been burned in the past by some of those fucks.
