@LaylaAlexandrovna This is kind of unrelated but Its been really frustrating to watch non-canadians misunderstand this situation and think that whatever is found or not found in these excavation sites is the primary evidence we have for the genocide of first nations people in Canada. I agree whatever we're doing with those sites is weird. Like why haven't we excavated all of them?? Couldn't some of the murderers still be alive?

But even if we find nothing in any of them, we have no limit to the evidence of the genocide. This was only one factor.

@Piss_Ant Good point. I just hate the way that ONE site is blown up into X number of bodies long before any excavation is actually done.

And yes, why aren't more sites being excavated? Though, even if they are, I just wish the gov and some ppl would stop pretending that certain others (who were they?) didn't systematically do everything possible to wipe out First Nations.

But then generally, our gov and legal authorities don't seem that interested in solving and stopping ANY crimes whether past or current. Goddess forbid anything tainted the image of Canada as the 'peaceful country'.

      OOPS too late.

YES. This dishonesty is starting so many problems. If you enter the conversation with dishonesty, why are people going to Believe the other evidence you put forward.

Growing up in Canada, you see and hear about the evidence all around. First nations people are still massively overrepresented in our prisons and foster care systems. I hear people at AA talk about their parents who went to residential schools and were abused, and then continued the abuse at home. I'm so happy every time someone finds a culturally modified tree and they have to cancel whatever the gov had planned for that land and make it a culturally protected site. Fuck our stupid fucking government lol. Land back via tree bureaucracy!

@LaylaAlexandrovna @dicey We absolutely decimated their population, moved them around to areas with few natural resources and no clean water, and destroyed their culture and history. Not to mention the abundant rape, abuse, etc.

And now we are paying the price by having no fucking clue how to manage and protect our lands lol .. Canadas gonna be the new Australia the way things are going "don't do controlled burns, just let the entire western half of Canada burn to the ground every summer! Cull the wolves! Cull the owls!"

Here in Norway they mass sterilized the native Sami people and took the children to be with ethnic Norwegians. It's why they are so mixed ethnically with Norwegians today. Terrible.

@Piss_Ant @dicey Forest fires have been an issue in this country as long as I can remember. You'd think by now that all the smarty pants men who are meant to PROTECT people and land would have figured out something but no. (OMG these men are so so smart! as we constantly hear tell.)

Let's cut down more trees and spray more glyphosate BY LAW.

@LaylaAlexandrovna @Piss_Ant @dicey Forest fires have always existed, but something is different about what we are seeing today. Drought parches the forest. Forest fires burn hotter and longer. The fire season drags on longer compared to decades ago.

The underlying driving force for these intense devastating wild fires is climate change. Hotter temperatures dry out vegetation. Climate change is a global issue that involves governments, countries, and individuals working together to reduce greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide). It's not like people don't know what to do. It's politics.

Fuel reduction is another factor. That is, clearing out dead brush and dead trees.

Experts explain link between wildfires and climate change
        from @CTVNews
Experts say the reason wildfires are so pronounced in Canada this year is because of climate change, which is creating the conditions for fires to break out more easily, more frequently and more intensely.

@LuvGreenTea2019 @Piss_Ant @dicey Oh right, and they wouldn't even think of consulting with First Nations who had been keeping the forests for 10K+ yrs!

Even now, a goal of all govs is to destroy the forests enough so that FN won't be able to live there at all, then they can grab the land for more destruction.

@LuvGreenTea2019 @Piss_Ant @dicey And we've known about these changing issues for at least three decades now, likely longer. As usual for any large body, it's all talk and little action.

I know for a fact that govs have played a terrible role in the devastation of BC forests. At one point a ton of forestry workers were fired and never replaced. It IS in BC forestry law that glyphosate be sprayed to kill 'weed' trees - the ones that don't make good logs/timber.

Many of the current conditions in BC can be directly blamed on stupid gov policies that favoured (often foreign) logging companies over real environmental (and human/animal) protection. People would be shocked at how little $ old growth forests were destroyed for. Of course there are many other factors including careless humans.

Don't believe anything you read from CTV - it's bought and paid for by Trudeau's gov with our taxes.
