     @fu @knhy Nope. I was just encouraging my little club (Mastodon) at school (the fediverse) to remember to boost posts where people talk about their lives.

     @Mrfunkedude@mastodon.social What you’re referring to as Mastodon, is in fact, Fediverse/Mastodon, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Fediverse plus Mastodon. Mastodon is not the Fediverse unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Fediverse system made useful by ActivityPub.

     @Mrfunkedude @knhy @fu its also important to note that Mastodon is a walled garden, and is attempting to remain that way. https://fediverse.wiki/wiki/The_Great_Wall_of_Mastodon Changes to Mastodon 4 make it even more so. Until someone I follow replied to your post, I wasn't able to reply from GNU Social. On Mastodon 3 if I read your post on your instance and I hit reply it would ask me to enter my webfinger gnu2@gnusocial.jp and it just worked. In masto4 they took that option out and now ask me to copy/paste the link to the post. It works from other mastodon instances, but not from GNU Social.

     isn't asking for boosts actually the opposite of requesting that the 'verse be more social? Isn't just everyone repeating the same thing completely different than cultivating real interactions with real people?

     @gnu2 It's what I'm asking them to boost that's key here. I'm asking them to boost people who talk about their every day lives.

     A lot of post in social media these days are mostly a bout politics or tech. We exclude our day to day common experiences. I encourage others to use the hashtag #today to post about their lives because I believe it's a great way to stay true to the "social" part of social networking other then tech or politics.

     My post is meant to encourage others to do the same.

     @gnu2 I never said that it wasn't a part of everyday life. I said that we "exclude our day to day common experience". Many people who post using the "today" hashtag are tech people and talk about their experience with it.

     When I say tech or politics I'm talking about posts that are mostly just hot takes on regurgitated articles or opinions. Not something like the frustration of having a tech job and being asked to do impossible things.
