Oh, I missed that federated.press shut down. That was a place for journalism in the #Fediverse and there were multiple accounts for my @MediaOnMastodon on there. They are mostly gone now, it seems.

Does that mean, that my list of official (!) and verified (!) accounts of #media organizations on #Mastodon has begun to shrink? 😔

If you have some, that @MediaOnMastodon is not following, please give me a hint. And please share this.

So, I got this question some days ago and I can only guess: Why is there almost no content on #Mastodon/ in the #Fediverse about the #WorldCup?

Yes, I know, that we're supposed to boycott etc. But that's clearly no majority opinion out there. Is there really no interest here?
Is it because of something technical? Like no proper live debate because you won't see all posts?
Or does (almost) no one post about football here, because of negative replies? What do you think?

I didn't find that much, I think. Maybe I searched wrong, but the difference between instances is quite stark..

Recently people here we're criticising tags.pub very harshly. But just look how the #Fediverse looks from different instances.

How could you advice somebody to not use mastodon.social if this is the user experience everywhere else unless there are such services?

And now, that the kids are asleep, here's my first analysis with almost 300 boost and more than 200 likes: #Mastodon is at 85%, in second place are #GoToSocial and #Bluesky (we can't see all the interactions from here). Seems like #Lemmy etc. are not recognized by my script, or it didn't work.

And if you want to do such an analysis for posts in the #Fediverse for yourself, here's the script I'm using now. It's much faster and easier than my old tool, which was based on Excel 😉

When a video from #Peertube appears in my feed here in #Mastodon, it only shows the title and the URL, nothing more. This is not really helpful.

Would it be possible, that Mastodon shows something like the first 300 characters from the description (500 characters minus 120 for the peertube title and the URL), @renchap?

Seems like Peertube doesn't see it as their problem:

Your points are absolutely valid, and I would certainly hope, that somebody finds the time to implement your suggestions. Very nice to know, that Mastodon is already at some.

The thing is, I think right now, #Bluesky is just hotter than #Mastodon & the #Fediverse. But that will change again, and it would be really great, when this stuff is fixed by the time an new wave of incoming people arrives. If we like it or not, many people were thrown away by exactly what you're describing.

Well, now also in English:
As far as I know, @heiseonline is now the (EDIT:) third media organization with it's own instance on #Peertube to share #videos directly in the #Fediverse.

The first channel to look out for is @ct_3003, but there are more to come.

I hope, we're only the beginning, so let's spread the word!
