   Recently people here we're criticising tags.pub very harshly. But just look how the #Fediverse looks from different instances.

   How could you advice somebody to not use mastodon.social if this is the user experience everywhere else unless there are such services?

     In those conditions, people can just not use the tools.

     Most of the time, for most topics, having limited access to conversations they're interested in is bad for people's experience of the Fediverse.

     @mho Under some conditions it's more a feature than a bug that tags aren't federated as widely.

     @mho we made two big changes to tags.pub to deal with the concerns that were raised.

     First, we stopped sourcing data from public relays. People didn't like not knowing why they were being boosted. So, now we only accept content if you opt in.

     Second, we added a blocklist for hashtags that are part of someone's personal brand.

     Hopefully this helps.
