@Jofish5000 @Mrfunkedude all I can say is, if you can get a PT prescription, do the PT and do the homework. I didn't do my PT homework very dutifully, and ended up with frozen shoulder and now waiting for a procedure-under-anesthesia to break up the scar tissue and frozen ligaments, followed by more PT.

Oh - and University Challenge, Brain of Britain, and Mastermind, all BBC shows (Brain of Britain is actually a BBC Radio show) that I watch (or listen to) on Youtube when they show up there.

#today i try to relax, having just managed to get a couple of nights of decent sleep due to finally relenting to taking an opioid for pain relief at night. shoulder surgery is in three weeks. i just need to last until then, and then get through the physical therapy / recovery process.

@Mrfunkedude Oh so much remembering. It would be total poison for me today, but it was so much better than Del Taco.

@Mrfunkedude I will agree that it's _written better_ than Lord of the Rings, which I have never been able to read. On the other hand, however well it's written, I'll never agree that it's a better story (once you strip LotR down to the actual story, without all the history and side-stories that Tolkien added in); Thomas Covenant is the most depressing and unsatisfying series I have ever read.

@Mrfunkedude I sympathize with you, having had the same diagnosis last year. For me, physical therapy got me to the point where stairs no longer cause pain. I'm continuing to strengthen my legs in the hopes that, once my shoulder is usable again, I can go out on photography walks once more.

@Mrfunkedude My moments of joy often revolve around the hummingbirds i can watch through our window as they collect nectar from the flowering tree outside.

Sometimes you don't even need to move.

#today i am (hopefully) on the recovery side of being ill (negative for covid yesterday, will test again tomorrow), still figuring out how to deal with the constant pain of my shoulder. otherwise, playing games and obsessively scrolling mastodon when not trying to nap.

#today i am sick, in pain from shoulder and arm, tired from lack of sleep from said pain, and cranky from lack of sleep. going to deal with meetings this morning, then try to go back to bed, or see if i can sleep in my comfy chair.

@Mrfunkedude one airlift of raw coconuts coming up. if you look in the sky to the southwest, you should see it approaching now. please be in an appropriate shelter when the airdrop occurs.

@brucetheknife @Mrfunkedude well, my doctor wouldn't even give me a referral to the orthopedist first. would have accepted it from a doctor who actually knew what they were talking about.

@Mrfunkedude My doctor sent me to PT about my knees without even ordering any preliminary imaging or diagnostic. I'm not happy about that. I went for the 12 sessions, then finally got a referral to an orthopedist who ordered the MRI and asked me to continue the PT anyway, since it seemed to be helping. The MRI eventually showed that the cartilage under the kneecaps had disappeared, causing the bone-on-bone. The PT helped in that strengthening my quads pulled the kneecap back up into place.

@Mrfunkedude Oh yeah, they're perfectly fine with it now. I just need to be careful about what movies I watch with my mom, so she doesn't start comparing notes with me about the guys on screen.

Telling my parents that I was gay.

I had to work up my nerve for that _twice_ - the first time, right when I was about to tell them, my dad made a crack about "as long as he's not sleeping with guys" or something and that pushed it back another two years.

#today i have two scheduled meetings - an all-hands meeting for the organization i'm now part of, and ... a pub trivia game. i'm all up for that :) other than that, it's going to be reading policies, starting to go through the learning/training videos, and continuing to try to figure out what's what in the new job.

@Mrfunkedude We need more people recommending profiles and introduction posts. Just enough to say "Hi, I'm real", although including "and I like this kind of stuff and I post about this other kind of stuff" will make you more interesting to other people. But without a profile and some sort of post, you won't have a very fun experience - there's people (including me) who block followers who don't have those things after a reasonable amount of time.
