Welp. Just got confirmation from my doctor that I have SEVERE arthritis in both of my knees. Basically I've got almost no cushioning in them.
Physical therapy and a referral to an orthopedic surgeon is being processed.

@Mrfunkedude sorry to hear that. I’m feeling my age and knees particularly are not happy.
@That_One_Guy That's the dream.
@Mrfunkedude
Hopefully this is just the 1st step in the process of recovery. Picture yourself out there on hikes and adventures, the work won't be as hard.
@Mrfunkedude Oh, I am so sorry. My mom has the same problem in one of her knees. “Strengthen your legs without bending your knees” her doctor recommended. Ok. But how? ?
that sounds really debilitating.
Physical therapy can do amazing things. I hope the orthopedic surgeon can give you a clear path as well.
@Fayedray Same. It's gotten to the point I can't walk 50 feet without them locking up on me. The other day I had to walk like a penguin just to get from the doctors office to my car.
But, gotta stay positive right? I'm doing what I need to do to make things better. That's where my focus should be.
@Mrfunkedude Had both mine replaced in 2013/2014 and it's been a great life ever since. Hope you don't have to wait long.
@Mrfunkedude like for real, I believe in your plan, doctors, and your positivity. I hope you get some relief soon. :) ??
@valiumnation That's what I'm hoping for. I just want to be able to walk more then 50 feet again.
@Mrfunkedude
Sorry that sucks, but there will be no surgical intervention without PT first, insurance rule. In 2015 PT/steroid shot has helped me avoid knee replacement so far. I continue with those exercises to this day most everyday. You strengthen your quads so your knees are not stressed. I keep my worst knee wrapped while exercising. I still have flare-ups that’s when I ice them and it’s painful but usually short lived. It takes some time but worth it. You’re so young to have it replaced.
@Mrfunkedude I've got it in multiple joints too. Getting old is FUN.
@Mrfunkedude I sympathize with you, having had the same diagnosis last year. For me, physical therapy got me to the point where stairs no longer cause pain. I'm continuing to strengthen my legs in the hopes that, once my shoulder is usable again, I can go out on photography walks once more.
@darkfoxprime it's good to know that there's hope. Thanks.
