Tuesday was all about harvesting: cherry tomatoes, various types of squash and peppers, green beans.

The poems we shared under the cottonwood tree: Langston Hughes "Morning After", Faiz Ahmed Faiz "Last Night", Ogden Nash "My Dream", Michael Ondaatje "Sweet Like a Crow", Dose One "The Pelt", and Edgar Allen Poe "Dream within a Dream". Theme for next week: shadows.

Does all that poetry make the peppers hotter?

@evan On this question, the conversation with Ezra Klein is very interesting.

When my mother was dying, I sat with her, looking at the distant mountains. For each of her breaths, I focused on a specific tree. So many dying breaths! So many trees! After a hundred or more, I gave up. When the last few breaths came, I was there, but not counting.

Vanessa Machado de Oliveira asks, "What would you like your remaining breaths to move in the planet-metabolism you are part of?" She means these breaths, now. Good meditation for this day.

Listened to this conversation with adrienne maree brown this morning on my drive down to the hot springs near Florence, CO. I really enjoyed it, especially the bits on transformative justice.

@ntnsndr A peer-to-peer network of admins, mods, working group members that can help people think through how to build cooperatively run instances.

Nothing about us without us; the emancipation of the working classes must be conquered by the working classes themselves, too long have workers been waiting for some Moses to lead them out of bondage, etc.

I get frustrated when good people cook up solutions that stomp all over these principles. Especially when they are not the people doing the work...

Which is to say, I love it when we find each other and cook up our own solutions for our work.

The plan is to cook together monthly, and continue with weekly potlucks. Cooking really gave everyone a chance to participate and make it our own.
