Artists and everyone who produce content are mostly mercenaries and just reflect what their surrounding is or do what they being paid to.
I think important factor of how to be an artist with standards and self-respect (draw coomer/gore shit as less as possible, while dedicating more to character and worldbuilding) is not to have drawing as only income, but as hobby while having primary job somewhere else.
Otherwise your ability to buy food and pay bills will be dependent on some "dark web furry pedo faggot", who will force you to draw absolutely disgusting and soul crushing shit and slowly corrupting you in the process.
