@IceCubeSoup@halfpint I think its OBD - not ODB - II, as in On Board Diagnostics, iirc. but yeah it sounds like you have a stupid computer chip in your car that has gone retarded. In most cases I've seen a FULL disconnect of power resets it and gets things back to normal and not the other way around, but it wouldn't surprise me
@CSB shes the same one I sent you a picture of her sitting in a suitcase about 5 or 6 years ago that you forwarded to Tina on Twitter, if you remember that 😄 she's about 12 now
@Truthy@Johncdvorak 4) now they dislike or outright hate the original reason they came here in the first place, but they stay due to the relationships they've built within the community
the older a community gets, the more of these people it builds up. eventually they overwhelm the remaining supporters, then they leave, and it devolves into a hate community.
not saying that has happened here yet, but it often happens and I've seen early signs of it for a while
@Truthy I somewhat agree with @Johncdvorak on that. I wouldn't say _every_ online social community, but a good percentage. If I had to guess it is usually something like 1) they come due to the topic (show/programming language/hobby/game/etc) 2) they get attached to the community here at least at a semi-personal level 3) something about topic eventually upsets them/gets old/they find a new thing/etc
@Zennblack@CSB eriner does a regular (at least yearly I think) purge of inactives. Then those slots are filled back up to the 10k limit. So I'd guess active accounts is probably near 90%. However, I'd guess that 90% of _those_ are "actively lurking" as opposed to "actively posting", so it feels like a smaller community than it actually is because a good percent are just observing without interacting
@stsmith@Fergus33@adam I know this is old, I missed this poll and post, but the behavior you're referring to in podcast addict can be controlled with this setting for behavior on "short audio notification"
@ScoWer22 I wonder if this has less to do with it getting suddenly more popular but rather people turning to streaming services for most entertainment *except* sports, which are pretty well locked in by the major networks.
@Cosmic that's definitely true, they're probably paid off and upward or laterally mobile for cash, so they're likely the vast majority of current buyers. but I think it has very little to do with them suddenly buying everything, rather that nobody else is buying anything
@Cosmic well its only been 6 days, so that's a pretty small sample. anyway, with mortgage rates as high as they currently are it isn't surprising, first time buyers are extremely low. that rules out nearly all Z's and most Y's
@Cosmic the boomers have already "aged". if they haven't bought a retirement home by now, they're probably not gonna. unless you're talking about nursing homes
