We are often asked if we are willing to die for our truths, forget that, be willing to live for them. In a moment in our history where the few are trying to erase the accomplishment of the many, it is up to us to keep our stories alive. They want to hide the history and accomplishments of People of Color, women, LGBTQ+, and many others. We don't need the government to tell our stories, they should, of course, but we can tell them, we can archive, we can preach our own gospel. We will all die, this is our chance to live. Don't let them erase the good you and your ancestors put into the world. Don't let them take your history and your joy.

Let's lead with empathy first, remember a lot of people are barely surviving, remember some are disabled, many are actively targeted, most are living paycheck to paycheck if that. It is much easier to say, You should just...but people still need to live and care for their families. Them being dead for our cause is not useful.

We are scared and tired, and I'm seeing people lash out against each other here on Fedi, and it's not a good look. Before you start typing out an angry post about what Canada should do or America, or Europe, take a second to think, does this help or hurt? They want us divided and fighting amongst each other, we are easier to defeat that way. It's just not useful or helpful. So, what does help? Instead of blame game or just demanding someone fix this now, post concrete things people can actually do. If there is a boycott to take part in, a scheduled protest, a petition to sign, a politician to call or email, a cause to donate to, please share that in the comments and write your own post as well. We may not all agree on every detail, but I think overall we have similar values and goals, let's lean into that instead of away from it. I love you all, I want us all to live well and equitably.

Remember you can't fix everything, pick something you really care about and participate the best you can. Something is better than completely burning out, and not being able to do anything at all.

@WarnerCrocker His boss is actually pretty nice, it's just one of those time waster things where no one wants to believe what the other people are saying. People just don't think of time as value, for some reason.

Y'all, I have to share my husband's work drama.

So, 3 days ago Josh (hubs) gets a request for help with a scanner/printer/fax setup. The person is a supervisor who has to upload some paperwork for new employees, so they wanted to use the scanner to scan it in, but it's not working. Now this just happens to be one of those weird coincidences where to two people in this office who would usually take care of this are out of office, so Josh says, NO worries, here's an app everyone else uses, you download it on your phone, take pictures and then it automatically uploads. The supervisor refuses to download the app, insisting that they have a scanner and they want to use that. Josh goes on to spend about 6 hours over several days troubleshooting this and basically comes to the conclusion that either the company that sold them the printer/scanner combo has some sort of override code only they know, and you can only get if you have their very expensive maintenance plan or it's just simply out of date with the current technology, and will probably never work. He lets them know this, and suggests a couple work around. The next day his boss asks, What is this about the scanner, they are complaining you didn't fix the issue. He explains and the boss says, Okay, you're probably right, but I'll take a look. The boss spends several hours, and comes to the same conclusions as Josh. This morning they both end up in a Slack group with the equipment allocation person and another supervisor talking about this damn printer, asking why no one is fixing this problem. They explain, but now these other two people think they also need to take a crack at this problem. So, it's been 4 days, and 4 well paid professionals have spent probably 12 hours collectively on a non-problem, because someone doesn't want to download an app. I asked Josh how much money they've spent in work hours, and he said he was afraid to calculate it.
