Finally all the parts arrived to build a custom router capable of 10 Gbit to replace the rental ISP router!
The basis for the router is a Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny M720q I got off Yahoo! Auctions for $70 with CPU, RAM and NVMe all included.

Aaaand there we go! Everything installed in it's place, tidied up and labeled. I got USB-C to DC cables to replace the separate bricks for the ThinkCentre and ONU with a single USB-C PD brick, and tidied up with shorter cables for everything else.
Really happy with how it turned out! The 10 Gbit internet upgrade project is a success!
For the past few years I’ve been having a debate internally about if I should stay in #Japan or move abroad with my family (my wife definitely wants to at least have an experience of living outside of Japan).
It’s been a debate because, our family is at the size where we should buy a house, but buying a house basically plants us here financially for life (houses in Japan deprecate like cars, only the land has any value).
I think today, I decided, it’s best to stay here.
I got an SF Symbols update on my Mac and checked what they added, thought to myself "what an odd choice for an icon to add, and they didn't even get it right" for about 10 seconds before it sunk in what the icon was actually supposed to be.
@SuperDicq You'd think in 2024 you'd just register your plate number
@mac84tv "All I can compare it to is when the shuttle exploded"
This is wild
@SuperDicq @lanodan The touchscreen worked great with Opera mini!
@SuperDicq @lanodan One of my favorite phones from that era was the Sony Ericsson Aino. A Java feature phone with a touch screen.
@darnell Some of those privacy features are already in Android
In my family we grew up playing this Swedish variant of Monopoly.
Which in hindsight may explain my predeliction for cat girls?
(This was definitely better than the original Monopoly)
@thomasfuchs It's Tim Cook's Newton.
Maybe in 10 year the tech will be here to make it an affordable kick-ass product but right now it's too big, heavy, janky and expensive. But someone is too eager to seem revolutionary before it's ready.
@SuperDicq SPOILERS
@polpo One of those things I regret not picking up when I saw it (at HARD OFF, naturally) even though I would never use it - a calculator that also acts as a USB number pad and trackball, with a send button for the calculator output. The box advertises "pantograph type key switches"
LGR also did a video on another one of these. Why was Canon so obsessed with this concept??
@mac84tv I've actually been using Cyberdog as my main FTP client on one of my Macs after Fetch started crashing and it works great for that
@SuperDicq Haha that’s great
@SuperDicq Yeah I was joking lol
@SuperDicq Yeah I think the neurosama singing is basically an advanced version of the “make a Donald Trump voice say this thing” voice changers, but that still means that you can replace all the commercially viable conventionally attractive pop singers with cute anime grills backed by some random dude singing in his basement (which is what all vtubers are already anyway am I right)
They never got VOCALOID to do English well but whatever TTS Neuro-sama is using has cracked it.
The job of a singer is over.
@SuperDicq The supplies of choccy milk can not be stopped!!
