@thomasfuchs It's Tim Cook's Newton.
Maybe in 10 year the tech will be here to make it an affordable kick-ass product but right now it's too big, heavy, janky and expensive. But someone is too eager to seem revolutionary before it's ready.

@SuperDicq SPOILERS
@polpo One of those things I regret not picking up when I saw it (at HARD OFF, naturally) even though I would never use it - a calculator that also acts as a USB number pad and trackball, with a send button for the calculator output. The box advertises "pantograph type key switches"
LGR also did a video on another one of these. Why was Canon so obsessed with this concept??
@mac84tv I've actually been using Cyberdog as my main FTP client on one of my Macs after Fetch started crashing and it works great for that
@SuperDicq Haha that’s great
@SuperDicq Yeah I was joking lol
@SuperDicq Yeah I think the neurosama singing is basically an advanced version of the “make a Donald Trump voice say this thing” voice changers, but that still means that you can replace all the commercially viable conventionally attractive pop singers with cute anime grills backed by some random dude singing in his basement (which is what all vtubers are already anyway am I right)
They never got VOCALOID to do English well but whatever TTS Neuro-sama is using has cracked it.
The job of a singer is over.
@SuperDicq The supplies of choccy milk can not be stopped!!
Introducing the AppleWideWeb!
Most of you may already know that #HyperCard was a big influence on Tim Berners-Lee when he created the WWW. We are told that HyperCard missed its chance since it wasn't networked. Without support for connecting up a global network of HyperCard Stacks, it had no chance against the WWW.
Well that was then and this is now. In 2024 we DO have a global AppleTalk network to publish HyperCard Stacks on - #GlobalTalk! The dream is finally a reality!
@Viss I got the SCSI one
@mac84tv Mail
I found the network rack gacha! Assumed it was so niche it would only be found in like Tokyo but there was one around my neck of the woods as well.
This is the cutest thing ever! Look at the little cables and cable management hoops, the PDU, all of it is so well-done!
@mac84tv I switched from Ivory to Mona since Mona had notification grouping, load from remote server, custom emoji, and the read position sync/memory was a lot more reliable. Dunno how they stack up today.
@galaxis @shyra The only cursed thing you’re missing is the native version of Microsoft Internet Explorer for Solaris
Went to the bar that uses floppy disks as coasters yesterday and winced all night
@catoutofbed @EeveeEuphoria Yeah, I almost forgot. It’s cursedness on a national scale.
@kaia @aetios @scott It was common in Sweden (50g lines on the wrapper) and here in Japan (10g lines)
@sick Yep! Slide it back and forth like a madman
I recalled a few more fantastically handy Japanese power strips
Generic iOS dev guy living in Japan. Into #VintageApple #RetroComputing. Apologies for being an extremely boring person. 🇸🇪→🇯🇵#fedi22
