Jeden Tag möchte ich Beispiele für Veränderung zeigen und damit die Sehnsucht nach lebenswerteren Städten wecken.

Bald werden die Leute wieder über Hitze in der Stadt klagen.
Nicht nur, weil es lebenswerter aussieht; wir brauchen mehr Bäume in der Stadt! Ich wünsche mir auf jedem Stellplatz einen Baum.

Das obere Bild ist mir sehr vertraut. So sehen viele Straßen bei uns aus. Wie wäre es, wenn wir mehr Straßen hätten, wie auf dem unteren Foto gezeigt? Wo möchtest du lieber wohnen?

Das obere Bild ist mir wieder sehr vertraut. So sehen viele Straßen bei uns aus. In welcher Straße möchtest du wohnen, wenn du dich zwischen den beiden entscheiden müsstest?

I share a picture of a town I visited last week (Limburg an der Lahn). Enjoy the half-timbered houses! The old town is full of narrow medieval streets lined with half-timbered houses that are hundreds of years old.
(Btw. I took the train. You cannot cycle through such narrow streets anyway.)

Today we did a memorial ride in which several hundred people from all over Germany took part. We are commemorating a cyclist, known as #Natenom, who always campaigned for safe cycle paths. Exactly two years ago, he was riding on a street near his home, when a car driver traveling at around 80 km/h hit and killed him.

And we remember that in 2024 alone, 441 cyclists were killed in traffic accidents in Germany. 1/2

@ascentale @bikenite A1/A8. In the photo, we are staging a 'die-in' in the shopping district of the city of Pforzheim.

The picture reminds me of the start of the movement in the Netherlands in late 1970s, when thousands protested against car violence, which made the whole country bicycle-friendly.

This shall remind you that every big change needed a start and maybe it will encourage you to believe in real change for the future.

Hallo #Berlin -Bubble. Ich bin derzeit mit dem E-Bike auf Reisen und frage, ob es irgendwen gibt, der mir von Sa am liebsten bis Mo 16.-18.8. eine Matratze und Dusche in Berlin anbieten kann. Ein (einigermaßen) sicherer Parkplatz für mein Fahrrad ist natürlich auch wichtig.
Bin Nichtraucher und leider Katzenallergiker.

Edit: Ich hätte zwar gerne einen local cycle hero getroffen, habe mich jetzt aber doch entschieden, in einem einfachen Hotel zu bleiben.

(But keep in mind that you cannot directly compare the German system of electing a chancellor with electing a president in the USA. It was not necessary to win a real majority of all citizens to become chancellor.) 1/2

@jrredho @HistoPol In the current German democracy it is still uncommon that the Chancellor got the majority of all citizens. All German citizens vote for a party and represantitives, regardless of a regional majority like states. Then the party with the most votes tries to find coalition with other parties. Together they get majority in Bundestag and nominate the chancellor.

This has been similar in 193x, so Hitler became chancellor, because other politicians gave him power.

@jrredho @HistoPol Afaik Hitler did not need a coalition, true. The big mistake was that other politicians thought they had control over him.

What makes me wonder about the elections in the USA is that only the majority in a state is relevant. If your voice is the minority in your state, it has no value at all. In Germany all votes count to give the number of seats a party gets in Bundestag. And of course, back in our first republic as well as today more than 2 parties are relevant.

@GreenSkyOverMe @mamsell Ich bin schon in diversen Regionen mit Fahrrad im Regio gewesen. Da gibt's manchmal Gurte, manchmal nur Haken (ich habe immer eigene Spanngummis dabei), manchmal gar nichts.

Ich ermahne gerade im Familien- und Bekanntenkreis Personen, die traditionell bei der cdu ihr Kreuz setzen, weder afd noch cdu zu wählen. Ich sage nicht, wen sie wählen sollen, sondern wen nicht, und dass auch eine gültige Stimme für eine 0,1%-Partei verhindern kann, dass afd/cdu die Regierung bilden.
Ich hoffe, dass ich einige umstimmen kann.

Ich ermutige euch, das Gleiche zu versuchen. Ich glaube, manche wählen aus Gewohnheit. Helft ihnen zu erkennen, was auf dem Spiel steht!

@kravietz @w7voa @ErikJonker I would be fine, if afd would only stand against Energiewende. Might be that this is one topic, where they are fishing voters, but most important is that they simply want to destroy our democracy.

In NL sind die Wege für Fahrräder oft getrennt von der Fahrbahn für Autos - und auch getrennt vom Gehweg. Natürlich werden dort die entsprechenden Ampeln nicht gleichzeitig auf Grün geschaltet.
