Finally did the third sparrow one. I’ve a couple of other ones I did I’m going to redo. I bought some heavy body acrylics and they’re much easier to work with. All these years painting and I didn’t know about that. 😅🙄

My Grandma is going to sell her flat. It’s in one of those managed accommodation places, you know, for old people. Everything about it is beige polyester slacks and Daily Mail Sunday Supplement porcelain figurines, all very old person stuff.

Then I look at the other flats there listed on Rightmove and it’s for the over 50s. I’m going to be 50 soon!

I didn’t have a good relationship with her either, it was, at best, ‘politely strained’. We were far too similar. Weirdly so. I find myself getting annoyed at the same things and catching myself reacting like she did.

It’s also been an education in masculinity and femininity, was she a masculine woman or am I a feminine man? Or is it bullshit to ascribe these categories to personality traits (yes, it is).

Four years ago today I got a call from my sister to tell me my mom had died. It’s been strange coming to terms with it, grief hasn’t played out like I thought it would. The biggest thing has been a sense of the stupidity of the universe, that someone can just be gone, forever. It really is stupid and outrageous.

I’m fine, it’s just weird. You don’t need to say you’re sorry, or give me any reassurance, and really don’t come at me with religion.

@dansup Though looks like I’ve screwed up my chance of keeping the same username on masto and pixelfed, I signed up separately and took my own username, so now I get username taken 🤦♂️. I’m guessing deleting my account won’t free it again?

@dansup Hello! When I get “this server is not compatible” when trying sign in with mastodon, what needs to be done to make it compatible? I’m using toot.wales
