I feel a bit weird, sharing this here, but if it helps one person, I’m happy to.

The TL;DR - get your colonoscopies.

A few months ago, my insurance company sent me an at home fecal test. I did one a year ago and passed, but this time I got a positive result. I was sure it was a false positive. I didn’t have any symptoms and, to my knowledge, no one in my extended family has ever had cancer of any kind.

It took two months to get a colonoscopy scheduled. The result? Fourteen polyps removed 😳. I just got the lab results and they were ALL precancerous. Thank goodness BCBS sent me that test or I’d still be growing those things.

My takeaway - even if you have no family history or symptoms, get screened. The prep is a pain in the ass, but not horrible and the procedure is nothing. You never know until you know, and then it might be too late. I really feel like I dodged a bullet.

What's the best #Linux distribution for a relative newbie? I have a couple of Windows 7 machines I don't use and want to try another OS again.
My level of experience - I can build a Windows machine from parts to bootup, but still can't remember how to right click on an iMac; I was a Computer Science major for a couple of years and have long forgotten knowledge of Fortran and assembler code; 20(?) years ago, I installed Mandrake and Red Hat, but within two weeks I'd make some mistake and render the install unbootable, wipe, reinstall, rinse, repeat.
