@Mrfunkedude Seinfeld, which I'm struggling with. Like Friends, it has not aged well. The Office, which I'll likely love forever. Some 90's WCW pro wrestling, because nostalgia. Also some Star Trek Voyager with a dash of The Original Series. Oh, & I'm about to start the second season of Iron Fist once I know I'll have the spare time to give it proper attention. Of this lot, it's the only one I haven't seen, so I need to be sure I can properly focus on it.

@begamit While not ideal, you can mute the whole user for a fixed period of time. But yes, it's a shame boosts don't have that option. Some people get a bit boost-happy sometimes.

Oh good. Another 10 inches of snow is in the forecast over the course of the next 3 days. My still healing back is already aggravated from yesterday's 6 inches of fluffy powder. This is looking like it's going to be wet. FML.

I know this is Maine. I know this is March. I know this is likely the last substantial storm, & even if it's not, anything else won't last long. However, I'm annoyed that the vast majority of our snow will have fallen in the final two weeks of Feb & first week of March.

@nlarson830 I agree. As a chronically negative person who is making great efforts to be at least a tiny bit more positive, @Mrfunkedude has been an excellent influence.

While it's common knowledge that negativity spreads quickly, what many often miss is positivity, genuine positivity, spreads every bit as quickly. As socially inept as I am, I can tell when someone is being genuine, & I have no doubts here.

Thank you for adding positivity to the fediverse.

@Mrfunkedude Mine got jealous when I touched other butts, so I had to touch his too. He's so jealous of any attention anyone else gets, it's absurd.

That's the trouble with dogs born in 2019. Many developed mad attachment issues from their humans being home all the time in 2020, then suddenly being gone most of the time later. Poor things.

@Mrfunkedude It's about balance. Fear of nuclear winter? There's little you or I can do to stop that, so that fear is indeed a waste of time. Fear of becoming disabled in a capitalist society? That's a very real thing that happens to everyone on a long enough timescale. That fear can motivate us to properly prepare for that inevitability.

If the fear is rational, address it, make a reasonable plan, & move on. If irrational, push it aside & live life.

I'm still learning this.

@Mrfunkedude When do we vote? I don't want to miss election day. This issue is incredibly important to me.

For-profit social media is the bane of modern society.

@jperlow @kevin @Mrfunkedude Nobody is asking you to predict every little thing that may be triggering to everyone on the planet. It's about making a reasonable effort. Obviously, following the rules of your instance is priority one, but beyond that is the general social contract. Most people expect CWs for violence, sexually explicit material, etc. With other stuff, simply be courteous. You can't forsee everything, but a tiny bit of effort goes far.

@kevin @Mrfunkedude This is why I'm a huge supporter of content warnings for commonly triggering social issues. It only takes a small act on our parts to save potentially thousands from being exposed to something that's unhealthy to them.

An individual's filters should be considered a last line of defense. I love content warnings, & often I'll use them as subject lines for even mundane things.

@Mrfunkedude That's how I feel when people start hurling bigoted epithets at a funeral.

When you realize the reason you're so socially inept & mentally ill is because the universe refuses to max out anyone's character sheets. You're just too damn good looking, too good at problem solving, & too good at simply surviving. The universe had no choice but to nerf your other stats to keep things fair.

@Mrfunkedude With every passing day, I know less & less, but I'm finally allowing that to be okay. It may be why I'm about 0.1% less miserable than my lifetime average.

@IanAMartin @Mrfunkedude This gets me thinking of when I worked in a hardware store. Double entendres galore! But the one that nearly killed me from holding in my laughter was the time a young petite conventionally attractive blonde came walking right up to me & blurted out "I need some black caulk!"

She knew what she did. I knew. She knew I knew. She smirked when she saw me struggling to keep a straight face. Then I escorted her & handed her some black caulk. ?

You know it's going to be a good day when your lunch order number is 69. ?

Physically, I'm 40 (though this month I've felt 70 thanks to my back). Mentally, I'm 26-32, explaining why I get along best with that age group. Emotionally, I'll likely always be 11, the age my mother left.

I was not an easy child. My son is very much me, so I get the challenges. He's 9, & while I sometimes need a break, I've never once even for a moment considered leaving.

I'll never understand why she thought leaving was ok having been through it herself. ? >>
