@prettygood yep, we're aware, but thanks for the concern. This was taken like feet from our fence, not that stuff can't happen anywhere, but we're careful. Even with the fence, we keep him inside when we know they're that close.
Btw, Fair Trade Music doesn't only benefit artists. People talk a lot about how streaming services (and Spotify in particular) screw artists monetarily, but something else that doesn't seem to get talked about as much is that they also collect and sell user data. Youtube Music seems to be the worst offender here, but they aren't alone.
@screwtape I think (at least for most cases, and assuming there's still an equivalent 4.0 version*) you can just upgrade it. I don't see anything that would make it incompatible with AGPLv3+, but I'm not expert enough in the relevant areas to say that 100%.
* For example, there's no 4.0 equivalent to the older Sampling+ license for music.
@screwtape In case either @lardmotel or @stokesauce haven't submitted because they're worried that they won't belong, I'm pretty sure most of us bonkwavers are doing this because that's how we felt pretty much everywhere else. I could be wrong, but the whole thing did arise from a joke about being unsure what specific sub-genre your music might be.
I boost a lot of stuff, mostly music, art, & nerd stuff. Deleted my other account because spoons are in short supply these days. You can find schematics, sample packs, and other audio/music-related stuff on my website:
My Faircamp site has been updated to the latest version (1.0). This also fixes some issues that were present in my last build (which, to be clear, were due to mistakes on my end, not problems with Faircamp).
As always, monetary support is very much appreciated, but not required.
@benda In total agreement with what you're saying there. I know it can be tough to get people together for various reasons, but I would love to see (and take part in) this kind of co-op action.
I posted my thoughts on the Tascam DR-40X portable recorder after owning one for a couple of years.
tl;dr: It does the thing. I have no regrets, but the preamps are a little noisy, so if you intend to use other mics a lot, probably consider something else.
Mastodon isn't perfect, but one of the first things I saw here today was some musicians talking about helping each other with promotion, and that's the kind of thing that makes me think I'm in the right place.
Community, not competition. I often suck at being part of things, but fuck competition.
Thanks for the kind words, and for pointing out that issue. I have added "from KXStudio" to the caption to give some context, as that is mentioned shortly after. My original intent was just to show some screenshot of Ubuntu Studio, but I can see how the lack of context could be odd.
I wrote a thing about switching from Windows to Linux for music production. Not a step-by-step guide, but a bunch of (hopefully) helpful info and links for those who might be considering the switch. Will probably also be useful for those new to the whole computer music thing who are interested in Linux as a starting point.
Not a company but I make stuff. Mostly strange noises and devices for the proliferation of such.
