Saw ‘Backrooms’ today and it’s proof positive that a 20 year old with some popular clips on YouTube should not be given executive producer on a feature film. It slides around without a clear spine, vignettes without the strong story that a feature film requires.

The ‘call to action’ is farcical. It’s just a bunch of convenient cliches. The world is not defined. All of this is Film 101. #film #movie

Wandering around this ‘fediverse’ the last few days looking for chats, and it’s striking how much of it is people typing monologues as if they didn’t care if anyone else was listening. Elsewhere you can see some effort at engagement - often for profit - but at least it assumes that conversation good or evil will take place.

Here’s a recent graph of the decline in favourable views of the USA worldwide. I didn’t know that Australians disliked the place that much. Perhaps being used as war fodder.

Off to see a pre-screening of Darlinghurst Eats Its Young - a film based on a suitcase found full of photos from the early 1980s in our inner city. I'm going to see myself and a lot of dead people including old band members in houses I'll recognise. It'll be a bit spooky. Hopefully not too sad.
