When I see someone proclaiming a fear of "... extremism on both end of of the political spectrum," I always ask myself, "WTF are they talking about?" Like what policies exactly? Without specifics, this just sounds like centrist nonsense.

Just saw a thread from a pop-sci/pop-consumerism youtuber here on Mastodon whinging about how he doesn't get the "engagement" here that he gets on xzhitter. It was a sizeable multi-part post! And all I could think was, "Just exactly what are you expecting here? For there to be a bunch of people who love consumerism?"

It was the first time I ever thought, "Maybe this space isn't for you."
