     a lot of y’all are posting hot takes on the demo data without taking into consideration geography because along with where the non-voters come from, there’s 2 things to keep in mind: mortality rates and voter suppression.

     when pollsters whose job is to create hype with numbers say 11 million didn't vote for democrats compared to 2020, that's not even half of the story.

     in theory, they should be able, with voter rolls, pinpoint those absences… 🧵

     and polling for likely voters should have taken this into consideration because it means DEMOCRATS NEEDED TO REACH OUT TO FIRST TIME VOTING ZOOMERS EVEN MORE SO IN 2024.

     which brings me to voter suppression. most of y’all think that voting suppression is just purging of rolls and things like that.

     in worse case scenarios, young voters do not have protections against parents not letting them vote but more mundane is the fact… 🧵

     my youngest son had problems because his signature didn't match what's in record. he is 23 years old.

     how many votes of young people were purged because it didn't match what was in their voter registration card.

     am just reckoning why the lady at the polling place was so happy my signature was a perfect match (it wasn't because of the screen but most of it looked the same).

     this rather petty and mundane ish might end up being a factor in these elections which means…🧵

     the United States needs an antifascist movement with multiples of groups and institutions, including parties.

     the Democratic Party is NOT an antifascist party. the Green Party nor Jill Stein are antifascist.

     antifascist Democratic Party incumbents should stay put in the party for now, but not for long, not with the necrotic parasite of neoliberalism keeping them back.

     but more importantly, since 2013 when John Roberts said in a Supreme Court decision that USA was now post-racial thanks to people voting for Obama, so no voting rights were needed, republicans doubled down on voting suppression since then.

     and all the state elections in between have not really been fair since the #Shelby decision.

     to me the death knell of the Democratic party happened when Nancy Pelosi went to the halls of Congress to scream “WE ARE CAPITALISTS”.

     Democrats lost congress because they PAID FOR vicious campaigns against progressive congresspeople. and what happened?

     One of the things that disenfranchised a lot of voters is that they were told to vote for a candidate not picked by the people, but by a few DNC elites, in order to "save democracy".

     Democracy has been nothing but an illusion for decades. Well, probably forever in this country due to voter suppression.

     We don't have to worry about a Newsom presidential run because there aren't going to be meaningful elections from here on out...

     It hasn't sunk in yet for a lot of folks but the reality is the US is no longer a democracy and rule of law is dead. The worst-case scenario has come to pass.
