Extreme wealth inequality severely impedes social mobility so that the members of the current ruling elite are not drawn from the best and brightest of society (who are scattered more or less randomly throughout) but limited to those already born into wealth and privilege. The leadership class, incapacitated by the incompetence and ineptness of its members, is unable to deal effectively with these sorts of challenges, inevitably making things worse

I hope it's a turning point and that real change is ahead. I don't encourage violence, but if someone is going to go on a homicidal rampage, I'd much rather the targets of their rage be the billionaire oligarchs responsible for our present predicament rather than innocent people in, say, high school cafeterias and at public events.

It's terrible it's had to come this, but it's not the least bit unexpected. People can only be pushed so far...

Overhyping stuff is not a talent.

The fact that such a large portion of the media and the political and financial elite today keep getting taken in by such a transparently obvious fraud speaks volumes more about their own gullibility, incompetence, and poor judgement than it does any particular skill or talent on Musk's part.

We don't have to worry about a Newsom presidential run because there aren't going to be meaningful elections from here on out...

It hasn't sunk in yet for a lot of folks but the reality is the US is no longer a democracy and rule of law is dead. The worst-case scenario has come to pass.
