@annika MSA Advantage 900 but it’s hard to get in Europe. If source control isn’t needed, I’d go for the 3M HF-800SD (or just tape a surgical mask on its exhaust valve)
Has someone written a fedi timeline statistics tool? I want to see distribution of accounts on my timeline, maybe some semantic analysis, percentage of media, etc. Or do I need to write my own? #askfedi#chatActivityPub
On a related note, I’m not convinced a purely chronological 1:1 timeline is the best experience possible. I would prefer to see more of the accounts who post less, and get buried under mountains of shitposts unless I’m unsustainably online. There’s an option to get notified on every post of select accounts, but I would prefer something that works on probabilities and equalizes (normalizes?) my feed.
As of now, if someone posts once per week, and I’m looking at my timeline once per week, there’s almost no chance I’ll see that post.
I don’t think the algorithmic selection optimizing for screen time (à la twitter) is healthy either, but there should be a way to make this work. What if you could cook your own weighting algo and adjust to your liking? Statistics are friend shaped!
@zip I feel like the outrage about the AI generated kill list is hiding something even more evil: if the “AI” was magically 100% accurate, up to 20 innocent people being considered acceptable collateral damage for a “low-ranking militiaman” target
hi I'm Zoé, a neurodiverse anarchist #polyamorous transfeminine nerd doing various things to #electronics (which is also my dayjob) and I use #computers but I don't like tech for its own sake — only for what it does (and these days that's often Bad, so I try to stay positive but it's hard and I'm sometimes cynical)
I had to embrace the fact that being less bitter about the world doesn’t make it any worse, and that I can and should appreciate the good things, because that makes me happier, and thus, reduces misery.
Yes unfortunately there are unspeakable horrors running wild around the world, and I do what little I can against, but I won’t let myself drown in sorrow and hopelessness.
quite a few cars come with traffic sign recognition cameras these days... and built in speed limiter too. it would be so easy to apply the speed limit automatically. the driver could override it of course, but make it default behavior, and make them actively press a button every time.
I wish fedi client apps would show the media file size before downloading (Subway Tooter at least shows it while it's already downloading) so you can decide if you want to spend 7 MB of your traffic allowance on a mildly interesting photo
