@madcap damn, cereal; only 17? Way to brag about your privacy measures, I guess
Have you ever thought about how degrees F is a very human-centric way to measure the temperature?
0? too cold, but survivable with the right clothing.
100? too hot, but survivable with the right clothing.
The numbers in the middle? pretty nice!
I think am in favor of measuring air temperature in F and everything else in C.
Ok, but what if instead of baning the Nazis from our bar, we just use AI and AR to make the Nazis INVISIBLE to anyone who doesn't want to see them? I graduated from Stanford and I refuse to see how this isn't a perfect solution!
Anyone who claims that drag shows "simulate sex acts" has either never seen a drag show or is confusing "simulating sex acts" with "simulating Spice Girls"
I want to get better at databases. I had already been working with them on my own when I had the opportunity to take a class in them, but I kinda fucked off thinking that my suprr 1337 PHP MySQL experience was enough; and I am kinda regretting that now that I have the experience to know that I don't really know shit. Like, I know shit, enough to be dangerous, but...
Anyone got any good resources on the topic? Down to read it all; Theory, hands on query crafting, etc. Things related to the care and feeding of the elephant database would be a plus, too.
Anybody have some clever ways to implement "break glass" processes? Like, storing emergency credentials in a way that accessing them requires multiple sign-offs and raises alarms with everyone when it happens
Still remember this time I was looking out the window at the place I worked and was watching someone use a traffic cone to try and scrape the ice off their windshield.
My coworker just mumbled "that's not how you install VLC on windows" to himself as he walked by looking and nobody will ever tell a better joke than that.
@silverwizard they have some less chill stations :flan_laugh:
I use the SomaFM 80s station as my wake up alarm. This morning it played Kate Bush, which seems somewhat auspicious. Good way to start the day at least.
@silverwizard The stressful part is pressing the "apply" button.
Once that happens; it's out of your hands. A calm washes over you. You make peace with the fire, and it cleanses the overgrowth you have stood in custody of for all this time.
? ? ? ?
Watching a terraform destroy run against large chunks of infrastructure is... way more thrilling than it should be.
Oof, still at 0% battery. Not enough power? Linux power driver issues? Have I been singled out by a malicious deity?
Idk, but it's weird. I think this one might have to become a stay-at-home machine; and I get something more sensible for travel; I just can't trust it not to let me down.
@cinja that might be. I tried a few with no luck. And of course I didn't bring the one I know is rated at 100W because I am a goddamn i'jit and "this one is more flexible and packs better" ?
Gonna have to get a USBC tester and a pd negotiator board and document all my flipping cables and chargers now.
Me, six months ago: Kubernetes is too complicated. I'll just use ECS and build out anything extra I need
Me, now: oh fuck, I built shitty Kubernetes
Normalize keeping things weird
I'm too much of a dilettante to list out all of the things I'm into. A lot of computery stuff, i guess, but that's boring. Idk, just scroll through my posts to get an idea of like the general vibe or whatever.
