A lot of people out there put a few standoffs in and think "I'm bored of this, I won't bother with the others" or something

USB-C is so eco friendly, it stops all of those chargers ending up in landfills don't you know!
Meanwhile: People are filling landfills with otherwise perfectly fine laptops and Nintendo Switches and phones because said USB-C ports aren't on flyleads internally and require advanced level soldering skills and a fuck-ton of equipment and countless different ports to hand to use as replacement because they're only the same connector externally.
This is one of my biggest greenwashing tech grumbles

If full text search is implemented into the fediverse retroactively without any sort of opt-in, it's functionally equivalent to snitch-tagging every single public toot you've ever written. So gross.

This NDA stuff is showing who Meta consider to be the shot-callers within this network, and also which of those shot-callers recognise themselves as such. I thought this was an *open* network; Why are these discussions happening behind closed doors?
If Meta have no intention of embrace, extend, extinguishing this place they'd tell us what they're making. If the shot-callers here care about the health and diversity of the network they'd not allow themselves or anyone to become shot-callers

I get that being off of Facebook can feel isolating to a *lot* of people that are fully ingrained into it, and I get that "but how will I talk with my grandma?" etc. is a legitimate concern for you, but I assure you that your grandma knows how to pick up the phone (give her a ring!)
