Hardware DRM is the absolute pits. It turns a (no more than £10 in parts) DC jack replacement which is fairly straightforward in these laptops, usually requiring no specialist tools too, into a repair that also requires a new power adapter (much more expensive)

Really not liking the new UI where when you open up who's faved or boosted a post it prioritises telling you their follower count over knowing at a glance what instance they're coming from other than a few letters of it if you're lucky.
Unimportant: Follower counts (social media shouldn't be a popularity contest, and followers does NOT equal trustworthyness!)
Important: Is somebody interacting from an unfamiliar place I should know about or somewhere I err towards distrusting

@YKantRachelRead I still stand by that it's impossible to be flawless when doing anything like this particularly involving interpersonal conflicts, community safeguarding etc, it's unreasonable to expect perfection and it's not lost on me that absolute perfection is expected from Ro in order for him to be trusted at all in contrast to the leniency given to those that will tell lies about him. I hope more people are noticing that too.

@YKantRachelRead He's not been dismissive of any genuine concerns that I've seen (and agreed with!), but certainly dismissive of concern trolls for want of a better expression which is an important difference.

@YKantRachelRead I'm speaking on this because I worry the most for Black trans people that are being entirely neglected in this awful somehow two-sided "debate" and I'm not prepared to let that slide. It's entirely possible to root out bigotry without making an us vs them fight between two marginalised groups, I agree with you that it's unbelievable that it's even happening with this framing at all.

@YKantRachelRead I'm not sure "thousands" of transfem people are being slandered here, nor deprived (nobody is forcing anybody to block anybody), and a bunch of false-positives have been quite rightly removed, and more can be removed as they are discovered if projects like this are engaged with instead of shat all over from afar.

I'm not suggesting that everybody is doing it from a place of racism at all, that's a mischaracterisation, there is a lot of that happening, and a lot of people prepared to believe it all at face value which isn't working towards building safer communities for all at all.

Ro is building something complex and has demonstrated that instances are removed if genuine mistakes have been made. It's impossible to be flawless in this. The racism I've seen/called in has been less quick to examine its self

Donated 4 laptops and 2 computers to a place that takes in kids that can't go into mainstream education 'cos they're too much of a handful, feels good! It's nice to give these things one last hurrah before they get ceremoniously torn apart by some kids. Go out in style imo!
