Hardware DRM is the absolute pits. It turns a (no more than £10 in parts) DC jack replacement which is fairly straightforward in these laptops, usually requiring no specialist tools too, into a repair that also requires a new power adapter (much more expensive)

My favourite thing about a lot of Dell AC/DC adapters is that sometimes if the DC jack on the laptop breaks it does so in just a way that it means the adapter still works but the chip that signals that it's a genuine adapter blows so it becomes e-waste for literally no reason at all because it refuses to charge the battery with it
