House Republicans Plan to Cut #SocialSecurity, #Medicare Social Security would be cut by $1.5 trillion over 10 years. Medicare would be cut by $1 trillion over 10 years. The House Republican Study Committee FY2024 budget would eliminate #Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act and Children’s Health Insurance Program and cut funding $4.5 trillion over 10 years. It would convert all 3 programs into 4 block grants, which mean lower federal matching funds. (National Committee to Preserve SS & Medicare)
Pete Buttigieg says: “The idea that you’re going to attack a guy for not staying for a 25th or 26th year is just not how most veterans I know would talk about someone’s service.” I agree. Tim Walz deployed to Italy in support of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan and retired after 24 years in the National Guard to run for Congress in 2005. Walz has not bashed JD Vance about serving one tour, performing public relations. Tim Walz has too much integrity. #uspolitics
The National Council to Protect Social Security and #Medicare has also came out in support of Harris-Walz. "Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have been steadfast in their support of #seniors. We are confident that Harris and her excellent new running mate will earn the votes of workers and retirees across America,” said Max Richtman, President & CEO. https://www.ncpssm.org/documents/news-releases/harris-walz-is-a-winning-ticket-for-seniors/
Is Musk involved in improper data harvesting and planning to improperly influence the election, just like we saw trump do in the 2016 presidential campaign? Trump worked with Cambridge Analytica to target millions of Black Americans in a massive voter-suppression effort. Trump’s 2016 campaign used negative ads targeting Black Americans to reduce the turnout of Hillary Clinton’s supporters. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/09/28/trump-2016-cambridge-analytica-suppression/
trump lied many times in a conversation at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago, July 31. He said no one died on #Jan6. However, the truth was stated in a Senate report that “seven individuals, including three law enforcement officers, ultimately lost their lives” in connection with the attack, four of them “that day.” Four were Trump supporters. @jeffowski I can’t blame his offspring for leaving the family and wanting nothing whatsoever to do with Elon Musk. It’s very sad. We need to love our kids, no matter what.
Inflation would surge again under trump’s proposed across-the-board tariffs, sweeping tax cuts for the rich and mass deportations. Look how long it took to cool inflation after trump implemented all the same disastrous propositions. #USpolitics
Between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening, 58,000 people signed up to volunteer for Kamala Harris, a figure that is more than 100 times their average daily sign-up rate, according to the Harris campaign. #USpolitics
This ad from Harris’s primary campaign, The Antidote To Trump, shows just how strong a contrast she could draw with Trump. https://youtu.be/vDSsci8uy8E#KamalaHarris
NYT/Siena College Poll, June 28-July 2: One of the more interesting findings in the poll was that men accounted for virtually all of Mr. Trump’s post-debate gains. In the pre-debate poll, Mr. Trump had led among likely male voters by 12 percentage points. After the debate, his lead among men ballooned to 23 points. That movement was particularly concentrated among younger men and men without college degrees. #MachismoSells
@Itchy trump’s brand of populism is strongly isolationist. He leans into the notion that America has made huge errors when it has invaded militarily in foreign conflicts. One can’t argue w/ that. But then trump goes further, seeking to destroy valuable peace-keeping institutions like NATO. Together w/ his love of RW authoritarian leaders such as Putin, Kim Jung Un, Victor Orban, you can see the dystopian America he wants.
@benroyce I don’t consider it too late. I am voting for Biden. I am going all-in to register young people to vote. I’m sending $$ to Sen. Jon Tester in Montana and Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio. No one is going to doomsay me into stepping back or giving up. I make my choices for myself.
