The demise of Indochine Vegan on Valencia was greatly exaggerated (by me). It’s true it was replaced by Himalayan Hub, but rather than closing, it moved next door into half the Sunflower Vietnamese space (the other half of the L-shaped Sunflower restaurant is still open on 16th St).

PSA: there's hella Flu A virus in San Francisco right now and it's a nasty strain.

Masking helps; so does handwashing and wiping down counters, as unlike Covid it spreads via larger droplets that can live on surfaces. Get this season's flu shot if you haven't, too.

Headline: Safeway to close over concerns about customer safety, theft

10th paragraph: Actually, they're selling it to a developer

Even after California passed disastrous Prop 36, corporate media are *still* laundering big retail companies' crime-panic talking points as fact

      Tsunamis | SF72
What is tsunami? A tsunami is a series of ocean waves that can cause dangerous coastal flooding and other damage. Tsunamis are usually caused by a severe earthquake or landslide that displaces a large amount of ocean water. Tsunami waves can last for many hours; the first wave is almost never the largest. Tsunamis can also cause strong, unpredictable currents off beaches and in marinas and harbors, making it dangerous to be in those areas. The National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC) issues four general types of tsunami bulletins:

Now that we've won JFK Promenade and Great Walkway, may I suggest the next fight be tearing down the 280 stub north of 101. It would reconnect neighborhoods, improve walkability and save $100s of millions to rebuild the dumb thing as part of the Caltrain downtown extension. #sfpol

@TransitEquitySF one of my friends insists that most of the poop on the sidewalk isn’t human, it’s “yuppie dogs”

with spoiled affluent humans who expect someone else to pick up after them

I dunno how true that is, just a thought

Thread about Denver's experiment in giving $1000/month to unhoused people. By the end of the pilot, almost half were housed, employment increased and participants were under much less stress.

San Francisco politics junkies will be like, "We could fund it with the Prop I revenue, or maybe Prop C" and you're expected to know that they don't mean the props that were assigned letters C and I this November, nor this March, nor in 2022, but rather the November 2020 Prop I and the June 2018 Prop C

as more votes have been counted, Jackie Fielder is looking stronger in the Portola. it used to be deep purple down there, now it's a lot closer to even, with her opponent only reaching 55% in a single precinct. she's even winning one Portola precinct. #sfpol

there are also stark differences between Portola and Mission/Bernal on almost everything on the ballot. every Portola precinct majority opposed K, every Mission/Bernal precinct majority supported it. Peskin was top vote getter for mayor in most of Mission/Bernal, Portola mostly went Lurie. etc
