@darnell I think Elon needs to spend less time at both. The reputational damage has been done, I wouldn’t be overjoyed at the prospect of buying a Tesla even if Elon leaves Doge, but still calls the shots at Tesla.

@sam @BeAware @rolle there are a lot of busybodies on the Fediverse. Without knowing exactly what you were building I would hope you are not discouraged by those people. The whole beauty of this place is its built on open protocols which allows all kinds of innovations. We should have more of them, not less. Even, heaven forbid, businesses.

I just realised that even after years of watching #StarTrek I know almost nothing about how regular people live in that world. What is their home like, if they haven’t conveniently inherited a massive vineyard? What do they do if they can’t just hop on a spaceship to save the universe, or land on a scientific breakthrough?

I realise it’s a post-money society, but by Star Trek’s own admission only the best of the best are in Starfleet. So what of the others?

@parents4future just to play the devil’s advocate. How is this election interference? This is one person’s view. An influential and wealthy person, yes, but hardly unique in that regard.

If it could be shown that X was tweaking algorithms or otherwise promoting AfD over other choices, that would be a clearer case.

@clive @pluralistic one key takeaway from the article is the inherent (or current?) nature of BlueSky’s decentralisation is such that you need pretty huge resources to fully run your own thing. In that sense Mastodon’s decentralisation is more widely scalable.

I know Mastodon is the anti-#AI community, or something, but the generated ALT text that @IceCubesApp offers is good enough that I’d be pretty much willing to have it on automatically for any image I post. Even when I do edit it it’s just small changes to highlight something I might want to emphasise. It’s actually shockingly good.

@nafnlaus.bsky.social oh, absolutely. However #BlueSky is way more centralised (I'm not sure if they still have federation working), so an ad approach might be more feasible too.

FWIW I think #Mastodon instances need to start coming up with some sustainable revenue models.
