@youronlyone wtf?! It's so annoying that you don't even know if someone reported you, or if this was done by the algorithm itself. This is really absurd.
@liztai sometimes i think maybe it would be fun if we were 17 again, however then i remember when i was 17 and all my friends went crazy over yaoi and shounen ai and just- did not i never could get behind, why girls like BL so much. Yuri yes, sure, that's your representation, but why the BL?
All my friende were queer in the end, and maybe it was a fandom/Visual Kei thing, oh well. But at least i did have queer media exposure, i talked to others who did not and it sucked for them.
@skinnylatte@liztai@rakyat ahh that sucks, at least for education it should be the other way around, so minorities can work on minimizing the inequality. Thank you for explaining. It's very sad, that it doesn't seem easy to change anytime soon.
I always thought that although malaysia is a muslim nation, it seemed like one of the most peaceful and okayish democratic ones. The whole melting pot seemed to be done better than in the US, because at least you all connect through food, like that basic common ground.
@liztai For Kdrama i have two more years to go, i think (full house was my first) but it's actually 20 years for Jdramas. And now i feel very old and i will go cry 😂
@liztai i feel the whole gatekeeping makes discussions rather boring. Also the discussions are so weird sometimes, because a lot of it is idol focused, so how exactly is that a good argument, when a show gets pushed up in the ratings just because there is an idol in it? Dramas have so much more depth. And it's not a bad thing to discuss pro/contra points of a Drama in a rational empathetic manner.
@liztai i totally lover "Love between fairy and the devil" because of several reasons and some of them were personal, but i can totally understand how you could not enjoy the Drama.
@youronlyone (also, it is just my reflection, of how whitewashed my education was and the ressources i could get. Your perception of the world was formed very differently, but because of colonialism, what was also taken away was different historical narratives and everyone was forced fed the white supremacy storytelling, even if no one asked for it, because it is part of opressing other nations/minorities/cultures.)
@youronlyone but inbetween was so much more, that was never mentioned. Or that we are so focused on "columbus discovering America" that we never told the story of all the other travels and empires and markets humans build up throughout the world. Humans have always been much more connected and far more developed than it seems.
@youronlyone i am currently very invested in a podcast called "Fall of civilzations" which is very well researched and has a very high quality production and it made it very clear that we completely underestimated ancient societies and how well they were connected and interacting with each other and how awfully whitewashed and racist our idea of history has become. Like, if i look through my german school history curriculum we get Dinos, then stone age people and suddenly greeks
@youronlyone all those games are played in europe, too Sipa was also played in China Marbles have been played with for thousands of years, and those kinds of games were widespread probably even in Mesopotamia.
Also asia and europe have been connected for a very VERY long time. Like there were romans who did travel to china. I also believe that civilizations came up with the same ideas independently at some points.
