   Reading Heaven's Official Blessings and .... I mean, it is interesting, but I definitely do not understand the hype 😅 Perhaps cos BL is not new to me nor is it something I hunger for. Maybe cos it seems to be written for a younger audience...
   But it is definitely because of the awkward translation with phrases like "unleashed to the max" etc. It takes me out completely 😂
   I definitely find the Penguin translation for "Tales from the Chinese Studio" so much better.

     @liztai My kid likes it a lot, mainly because it's same author as Mo Dao Zu Shi, which was widely available on the web (important for an age group that doesn't have much money)

     @bookstardust I read yaoi out of curiosity, but the phase was over super quickly because the stories got repetitive lol. Now I think well, I guess it's novel, that's why they like it. TBH some yaoi stuff can border on being fetish, and it makes me uncomfortable. I don't think it represents LGBTQ people well at times!

     @liztai sometimes i think maybe it would be fun if we were 17 again, however then i remember when i was 17 and all my friends went crazy over yaoi and shounen ai and just- did not
     i never could get behind, why girls like BL so much. Yuri yes, sure, that's your representation, but why the BL?

     All my friende were queer in the end, and maybe it was a fandom/Visual Kei thing, oh well.
     But at least i did have queer media exposure, i talked to others who did not and it sucked for them.
