@mekkaokereke @ahimsa_pdx nice, I already donate to Hachyderm but didn't realise you could join the Nivenly co-op. I also didn't realise they've released an Android client which I'm writing this post on. It's very smooth.

Tom (serpentroots@hachyderm.io)'s status on Thursday, 25-Jul-2024 19:48:12 JST Tom @aral it's ironic he rails against government at the same time as saying he is friends with anyone supporting small tech when the number one, no-strings-attached funder of startups is government grants. Show me a VC that will give you money because it's good for society.

Tom (serpentroots@hachyderm.io)'s status on Thursday, 15-Feb-2024 16:17:15 JST Tom I decided about a year ago that I was going to find the perfect job that would make me happy. I applied for pretty much everything that matched my criteria. I interviewed at so many places I knew I didn't want to work for, learning at every step of the way. I tracked everything in a big spreadsheet with comprehensive notes about how companies interview, which recruiters to avoid and who provides comprehensive feedback.
Would anyone want a full write-up on this?

Tom (serpentroots@hachyderm.io)'s status on Wednesday, 07-Dec-2022 08:00:29 JST Tom @nova There's certainly an element of personal finances that come into it. The people in my family who have escaped poverty and war and lean a bit to the right will always vote for the party that taxes lower (not in the US mind you). They grew up not trusting the government and would prefer to hand over as little of their money as possible. I've heard it referred to as short-sighted and voting against best interests, but it's deeper than that.
