It was suspended the other day and is now reinstated. Can I check please: is that deliberate? No drama if so (your server, your decision) but if so I will l seek to get a #fedbiblock against berlin.social so that pro-genocide hate material does not appear in places where those being targeted are also present.

Anyway - as we have plenty of genocide survivors here then your position is untenable with participation in the anti-genocide fediverse. So a #fediblock on Berlin.social seems appropriate

Odd isn't it? We had a health system which was the envy of the world (apparently), then you actively work to diminish it, & replace with American style which manifestly kills a lot of Americans each year through negligence and lack of access.

I think they genuinely believe the lie that 'there is a lot of waste which can be eliminated' not recognising that the process of trying to eliminate waste is insanely expensive and ineffective. Same outcome: more dead people

2/n There is no commercial value in saving the life of a 2 year old with a bad illness.

But the difference between a society which will do that, and one which says: too expensive/pay yourself, is everything between a society I want to live in and one I don't.

The boy in question is now a cheeky 23 year old who's just moved to Vancouver. No job. A bit of 'fuck it - it will probably work out'.

As we always do we sent him a cake. Inscribed: "Glad not dead. Love Family".

Today, Nov 5th is a celebration day in our family. 22 years ago, my son had a bone marrow transplant (aged 23 1/2 months) for a horrendous leukaemia.

We were lucky: we lived 30 minutes from Great Ormond St, kids hospital. His mum was the 2nd parent donor in history (she and I are matched to each other). He didn't reject. We paid £0.

That is the greatness of a health system now being destroyed. 1/n

It's the mental gym you have to do to get to a point where all of the basic social norms we've lived with for 70 years (like - we all have, reluctantly maybe, to pay taxes because who pays for the pavements otherwise?) are now trash, that freaks me out.

My institute still trains members, explicitly, that tax avoidance is immoral. While just looking the other way from the fact that half the members earn their living from tax avoidance advisory practices!

I had an American business woman recently tell me, a Chartered Accountant, that it is morally wrong for me to just pay my corporate taxes, and that I had a fiduciary duty to avoid them if I could.

For us liberal can mean: pro-abortion, pro-immigration, pro-human rights for all, pro-free health care, pro-green, pro-union, anti-austerity, pro-degrowth. But I know that doesn’t translate, so good to be clear what you mean by the term - thank you. And yeah - I know that Auntie

To all the “they’re not helping the cause” folks criticising environmental protestors, I’d like to just correct your offended liberal sensibilities. They are. They are raising awareness in a world where our media ignores them unless they do this stuff. & it is working.

Your criticisms of them are working for the polluters and capitalist murderers who have recruited you into their status quo army. Don’t be in that army. Stand up for the front line protestors. And donate to them if you can.
