It did look quite impressive an #aurora tonight, however the usual Vancouver clouds had to steal the show.

@etherdiver I have a tiny smidge of sympathy for non-creatives because unless you've created something, it's pretty damn hard to understand how exciting and energizing it can feel to come up with something yourself. Also, I think the parallels with the modern consumption-only internet is kind of scary but also informative.

Oh boy, it's gonna be a tight race for which we will get first: superintelligence or metaverse legs!

@polpo you know what's crazy? One time I accidentally cracked a full-size SD Card open, and I found that inside it was just a microSD card adapter with a permanently attached microSD card.

This story is insane. A US Navy chief:

* Purchased a Starlink system
* Installed it on an active USN ship
* Did not hide the WiFi SSID
* Named the network "STINKY"
* Lied about it to their superior
* Changed the WiFi name to make it look like a printer
* Lied about it to their superior AGAIN
* Misled inferiors to think the network was approved by the Commander
* Was only caught by a civilian information systems technician *months* later

@thomasfuchs I've had success using washi tape to remove the stickiness, at least temporarily.

I've done this mostly with Nikon film cameras: I cover the sticky regions with black washi tape (3M makes good black ones that match the tone almost exactly) and keep using the device with it on. After a few weeks to a few months, I'll take the tape off and the stickiness will be completely gone, without changing the appearance of the plastic at all.
