A week spent in Natal, Brazil. Pool, beach, sun, and mostly sunny weather. I think the Nikon P7700 did a good job capturing the mood, once again.

Hop!
@tewha why does your cat have a serial number?
It did look quite impressive an #aurora tonight, however the usual Vancouver clouds had to steal the show.
@etherdiver I have a tiny smidge of sympathy for non-creatives because unless you've created something, it's pretty damn hard to understand how exciting and energizing it can feel to come up with something yourself. Also, I think the parallels with the modern consumption-only internet is kind of scary but also informative.
Oh boy, it's gonna be a tight race for which we will get first: superintelligence or metaverse legs!
I photographed this singing Towhee today and I had to give him the screaming cowboy treatment.
"Hmm not here. Nor here… Where did I leave my keys??"
This (female) Red-winged Blackbird was going around lifting the lily-pads like someone who misplaced something important.

@liaizon still my favorite:

@brett fantastic. you should add an easter-egg deep into the UI that references the "vent radioactive gas: yes/no; venting prevents explosion" scene from the Simpsons episode where homer works from home
@skinnylatte Deep Sea Fissures
@polpo you know what's crazy? One time I accidentally cracked a full-size SD Card open, and I found that inside it was just a microSD card adapter with a permanently attached microSD card.
Is no one ever whelmed?
This story is insane. A US Navy chief:
* Purchased a Starlink system
* Installed it on an active USN ship
* Did not hide the WiFi SSID
* Named the network "STINKY"
* Lied about it to their superior
* Changed the WiFi name to make it look like a printer
* Lied about it to their superior AGAIN
* Misled inferiors to think the network was approved by the Commander
* Was only caught by a civilian information systems technician *months* later
That Mercedes was once considered a good-size family saloon for many years. Now it looks puny next to other modern cars, even ones considered compact by today's standards…
Mama preens while babies dream.
More preening.
Every CEO letter announcing layoffs lately can be boiled down to basically:
> we never made so much money, and in order to make even more money, we will fire half the company
@thomasfuchs I think they've rebranded it slightly, but it should be this one. You can tell it's the right kind of tape because the adhesive is weak, similar to regular scotch tape: https://www.scotchbrand.com/3M/en_CA/p/d/v000192455/
@thomasfuchs I've had success using washi tape to remove the stickiness, at least temporarily.
I've done this mostly with Nikon film cameras: I cover the sticky regions with black washi tape (3M makes good black ones that match the tone almost exactly) and keep using the device with it on. After a few weeks to a few months, I'll take the tape off and the stickiness will be completely gone, without changing the appearance of the plastic at all.
