@thomasfuchs Oh this reminds me… when I was studying German, many years ago, our teacher told us to pick a German song to try transcribing as a form of immersion, and I naively picked Der Commissar. When I told the teacher I couldn't understand a word in any of the verses he was like: "but of course, he's *rapping*, in * Österreichisch*. Not even I can understand it" (he was German).
Now that’s something I never expected to see: A Canadian pressing of Falco’s 1982 album “Einzelhaft”. I always assumed the original version of Der Kommissar wasn’t a big hit in North America. Naturally I had to buy it, especially for the title track, which is one hell of a bop.
Between the Embraer acquisition debacle and the shoddy launch of every single aircraft they’ve designed in the past 15 years (787 batteries exploding, 737 MAX falling off the sky, 777X delayed again; to name a few), Boeing is working hard to destroy every little shard of trust built by their workers in the past decades, all in the name of unfettered profit. Might as well sell the company to some petrodollar sheik, it will fit the company’s new operating model.
Quora managed to out-bullshit their usually terrible content quality by showing a (wrong) ChatGPT answer *before* the correct (and contradictory) human answer.
Partially related to my previous post: Did you know that all coal contains trace amounts of nuclear material? Mostly Uranium and Thorium. Burning the coal releases this nuclear material into the atmosphere! (Who could have thought).
In a 2009 report by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, it was estimated that all US coal plants combined emit more, much more, nuclear waste than all US nuclear plants combined *consume* in nuclear material.
@TechConnectify But wait. Let’s push this thought through. If everyone had solar with no batteries, what happens is that during the day there would be no one demanding power from the grid, meaning the grid would not pay you for your excess electricity. Therefore, your bill at the end of the month would be whatever you used from the grid during the night.
