I remember reading about a way to restore/rejuvenate sticky "rubber" coatings on old gadgets (like 90s/early 2000s laptops and cameras)? Anyone have an idea?
(I'm specifically looking to rejuvenate, _not_ to remove the coating.)

@jeffluszcz thanks that’s a useful resource
@thomasfuchs iFixIt has a page where they walk through some options. I often up using isopropyl alcohol in the end... https://www.ifixit.com/News/93833/ask-ifixit-how-do-i-fix-sticky-plastics
@brunoph do you know the exact product name/number for that washi tape?
@thomasfuchs I've had success using washi tape to remove the stickiness, at least temporarily.
I've done this mostly with Nikon film cameras: I cover the sticky regions with black washi tape (3M makes good black ones that match the tone almost exactly) and keep using the device with it on. After a few weeks to a few months, I'll take the tape off and the stickiness will be completely gone, without changing the appearance of the plastic at all.
@thomasfuchs I think they've rebranded it slightly, but it should be this one. You can tell it's the right kind of tape because the adhesive is weak, similar to regular scotch tape: https://www.scotchbrand.com/3M/en_CA/p/d/v000192455/
@brunoph great thx!
