I had a big presentation today at work so I dressed up in my finest formalwear

My mom 60 years ago with an IBM 1401 and me 6 years ago with a DEC PDP-10.

In ~2009 I was interviewed on video for something intended to go public, related to this conference we used to have for Microsoft Exchange that was canceled in the early 2000s and was being brought back.

As part of the process for all these behind-the-scenes interviewers, they had a person whose job it was to make us nerds relax on camera.

So the interviewer’s technique for doing this was to tell everyone a joke up front to get them laughing on camera (and get some good b-roll).

Today is my anniversary. I got my (fellow techie) husband and I an edible arrangement delivery with a note that said “Happy 19th anniversary in hex!”

He messages me at work: “We got an anniversary gift that wasn’t signed, but there’s a slight math error in it”

Me, indignantly: “I did not make a math error, 19 in hex is 25 in dec!”
