I wanted to tell you (somewhat) privately that I've been thinking about this post for a couple of days now. It's interesting to me that you said something that seems obvious in retrospect but that I had never thought about explicitly. We need to ring-fence places for humans now and actually practice gatekeeping against *machines*.
Thanks as always for your posts, it amazes me you can talk so expansively about so many things. Even when I disagree with you—surprisingly rare, given I'm a plain-old-conservative and you seem to be some flavor of anarchist—I'm still glad I read it.

We moved because a longtime member threw a fit about no-no words and dobbed us in to Libera.Chat admins, which got us babysitters sitting in the channel. Was very annoying at the time but all water under the bridge.

Every so often I feel a bit shit that I get away with keeping my job despite all the dumb shit I do and the mistakes I make. But it passes in about 10 minutes max when I remember how so many of the people I deal with at other companies are so dumb I wonder how they even breathe let alone make twice my salary

@mangeurdenuage There was a post from @sun a while back where he was talking about the server's culture relative to the rest of the fun side of the Fediblock wall, and he said something akin to wanting a place that people could say what was on their mind, including haling Hortler or whatever, but that the server would never be *about* that or any other particular vented topic. I think that nailed it, and it stands out to me that I just don't see a whole lot of tiresome shit-flinging involving this instance's users. It's fun without being censorious, edgy and thoughtful in equal measure, and mature enough to expect that, as an adult, you can roll your eyes and move on if a post makes you angry, or just mute it at the very worst.
Also the active users here post the funniest memes, and the gooners and Nazis don't completely drown that out as they do on other instances this side of the wall. It's Fedi the way I hoped it would be when I first explored it and while I'd find some way to stick around if SPW were to go, I don't think it would ever be quite the same again. This place is so much fun and I need this sort of outlet anywhere I can get it. It's difficult on this side of the wall, and completely impossible on the other
