@elliots @chema @joelvanderwerf I have used both their mail order as well as their pickup service from the 10th st Costco. I liked both experiences much better than Walgreens or cvs in terms of service and products. I was able to easily get a brand name version of something I take for not an exorbitant amount, and it actually helped; when I went during no insurance times the pharmacists would give me hefty discounts on meds and vax with whatever codes they had.

For covid vax they are consistently the only people who also do novavax

@jawnsy I guess that’s the reason why they haven’t, 24th is so distinctly Latinx and Palestinian and Indigenous in its demographic and entirely different from the rest of the Mission at this point

Every time I go to Calle 24 (24th St in the Mission) I feel renewed and rejuvenated in my love for people and culture. I love cities and the parts of cities that make space for diversity, spice and flavor.

I gave pandan cake and durian cake to someone, they gave me homemade soy milk. Someone gave me a bike helmet, I gave them soy milk

Hold on the meat. Skip the chicken broth, use Lee Kum Kee mushroom bouillon powder. Get a bunch of good Chinese dried shiitake mushrooms, soak that for a few hours, use the water for broth and add some of the black tea as suggested.

And if you’re ever in a Korean market look for ‘Dashida’ (picture of a cow on it) for really incredibly good beef broth powder that is pretty much the basis of a lot of Korean home cooking

If you do it with green tea that’s also valid, and that’s more like the Japanese style ochazuke. I do that sometimes too. I just more often have black than green tea

When I make Chinese dishes like congee or soup of some kind, I sometimes don’t have the time to make a really full bodied broth.

Western style bouillon doesn’t quite do it for me (doesn’t feel ‘intense’ enough and also has different flavor profiles). I have these stock cubes made with ginger and garlic, I use that and dashi, and then I brew a cup of any black tea I’ve got (oolong or regular black tea) and I put it into my soup.

Tea- based cooking is super common and I use it for soup in this way, I also use it to smoke tofu and chicken and duck.
