iOS developers stop subscribing to notifications with a `nil` object when they really want a notification for a singleton challenge 2024.

Seriously, don’t pass `nil` when the documentation says the notification is sent to a particular object. `nil` means "any object”. If anyone else re-posts a notification elsewhere, you'll get those notifications too. Have fun dealing with duplicates.

The only non-evil use case I’ve seen (of all people!) was Adobe's content-aware fill. Made it easy to infinitely stretch out a background for a web site etc. (And even that has the potential to be used for evil).

But that was a way older, simpler use case of trained content. Nothing like stealing an entire art style, basically just generating patterns.

Foreigners always tell me: German words are so descriptive. Airplane is "flying thing", glove is "hand shoe".

More app devs should test their apps on the way down the stairs. Y‘know, in that sweet spot where the phone still thinks it’s booked into your Wifi, but is already out of range, and hasn’t yet switched to cell.

I slightly under-estimated how wet the blades of grass in a meadow are during rain. Those were maybe knee-high, but just crossing made me soaked up to my hips. Usually they just get my feet wet (which would be fine, these boots are water-proof).

Luckily, as one says in German, I'm not made from sugar.

At least they're different sizes, so you can tell them apart by touch, but why isn't bigger size consistently bigger value?

@manton Re. The last CoreInt and Amazon: It doesn’t invalidate your point, but #wellActually, Amazon doesn’t own *any* trucks. All those Amazon-labeled trucks, at least last I checked, were „independent contractors“, meaning they‘re all too small to unionize and to allow Amazon to apply the thumbscrews to get better terms. And of course distribute the risk away from Amazon.

Your statement holds, they have more control with Amazon Uber^D Logistics, but unfortunate phrasing.

@thomasfuchs Ah. That makes it a bit awkward to handle (way too wide), but at least sort of makes it useful. I wonder why the *key* isn't a USB stick instead.

@thomasfuchs RTMI is not a ScummVM game, so I doubt the Terrible Toybox folks would want to port their game engine over to DOS or Amiga, not to mention that just the Guybrush character model would probably fill the disk.

But yeah, I'm a bit disappointed they don’t offer *actual* physical media. Instead of a plastic dummy in floppy look, why not a DVD at least?
