@Codeberg Strap a display and keyboard to that, and you have the perfect laptop. Well, except maybe for gaming, I doubt the GPU in that one is anything fancy đ
@siracusa@atpfm I think you might be mixing up Google Play Services with the app store. Services is how google sneaks all its new API and bundled apps past the device manufacturers and carriers who drag their feet updating the OS.
So AIUI the apps mentioned in the court filing are things like GMail, Maps and Settings, so Google canât punish manufacturers by withholding them.
In the end itâs your stream and you can set whatever rules you want (and need, to protect yourself from spambots etc.).
But just between you and me? Kicking people from stream for lurking (i.e. watching the stream without chatting) is not something that will endear you to me.
@siracusa@atpfm The problem with Patreon pulling out of the App Store is that they have a Twitter-like timeline feed thatâs the main way many creators push out their content or disseminate links to their exclusive stuff. Itâd at the least be a huge step down in usability for people scrolling through their favorite artists every morning.
I had completely forgotten this song was a thing ... I think this was from the He-Man and She-Ra movie or something? Heard it and my brain immediately went âYes, I know that song and tune.â
Oh right, VMWare was bought by Broadcom and it's now impossible to re-download any executables.
So I guess I'm not getting a Windows version and just hoping that by the time it stops working completely on my Mac (or I retire my Mac) I've no longer a need for this Mojave VM.
I don't like "big-endian" and "little-endian" as terms. Feels like they're always the opposite of what I expect them to be, because it's ... like ... big-end first, not big stuff at the end, but the word "big-ENDian" contains the word "endâ, so that kind of invites the other interpretation.
Updated ValueConverter, my tool for viewing a bunch of bytes as different data types, to support big-endian data again (like it used to before the rewrite).
iOS developers stop subscribing to notifications with a `nil` object when they really want a notification for a singleton challenge 2024.
Seriously, donât pass `nil` when the documentation says the notification is sent to a particular object. `nil` means "any objectâ. If anyone else re-posts a notification elsewhere, you'll get those notifications too. Have fun dealing with duplicates.
The only non-evil use case Iâve seen (of all people!) was Adobe's content-aware fill. Made it easy to infinitely stretch out a background for a web site etc. (And even that has the potential to be used for evil).
But that was a way older, simpler use case of trained content. Nothing like stealing an entire art style, basically just generating patterns.
