Foreigners always tell me: German words are so descriptive. Airplane is "flying thing", glove is "hand shoe".
Then Sweden comes and goes, hold my beer: uncle is "farbror" (father's brother).

More app devs should test their apps on the way down the stairs. Y‘know, in that sweet spot where the phone still thinks it’s booked into your Wifi, but is already out of range, and hasn’t yet switched to cell.
This thought brought to you by Lifesum‘s disappearing „water consumption“ entry control that’s still waizing for its backend request to time out.
I slightly under-estimated how wet the blades of grass in a meadow are during rain. Those were maybe knee-high, but just crossing made me soaked up to my hips. Usually they just get my feet wet (which would be fine, these boots are water-proof).
Luckily, as one says in German, I'm not made from sugar.
@babe That's actually also a nice photo I took, I think…
Rocket Salad.
Should I be worried that the lights in the train just went out?
Marvel, give Skyler Samuels her own series as the Stepford Cuckoos.
She was amazing on The Gifted.
@GreenSkyOverMe Oh! Ja, so sollte das doch sein!
*looks at change* Why is a 5 ¢ coin bigger than a 10¢ coin, and a 50 ¢ coin bigger than a 1 € coin?
At least they're different sizes, so you can tell them apart by touch, but why isn't bigger size consistently bigger value?
Some historical thing where the metals they're made from just were smaller and had to be thicker to reach actual value?
@quephird So many people think Abba is all Mama Mia and Eurovision songs, and don’t realize modern pop and rave is basically built on Abba's later songs 😻
Fun thing to do at Karaoke: replace a word with a different one. Like, replace "love” with “lunch”, or “eyes” with "ass”.
@manton Re. The last CoreInt and Amazon: It doesn’t invalidate your point, but #wellActually, Amazon doesn’t own *any* trucks. All those Amazon-labeled trucks, at least last I checked, were „independent contractors“, meaning they‘re all too small to unionize and to allow Amazon to apply the thumbscrews to get better terms. And of course distribute the risk away from Amazon.
Your statement holds, they have more control with Amazon Uber^D Logistics, but unfortunate phrasing.
@thomasfuchs Ah. That makes it a bit awkward to handle (way too wide), but at least sort of makes it useful. I wonder why the *key* isn't a USB stick instead.
@thomasfuchs RTMI is not a ScummVM game, so I doubt the Terrible Toybox folks would want to port their game engine over to DOS or Amiga, not to mention that just the Guybrush character model would probably fill the disk.
But yeah, I'm a bit disappointed they don’t offer *actual* physical media. Instead of a plastic dummy in floppy look, why not a DVD at least?
I'm hating iTunes more and more. Thought a movie had become available there. It's a rental.
But the button says “Buy”.
Why is that effin' store becoming more and more confusing every time.
Why am I even still buying stuff there?
Because all other options are even worse… At least here I can download and play with my normal movie player. Everything else is browser streaming or a special app.
Re. that last repost: "plotz" is yiddish for the German word "platzen”.
iExplode anyone?
