I agree with everything in the article, https://www.timothychambers.net/2025/06/18/113327.html, and many of the comments, but that phrase can't be stressed enough.

Would also like to mention, regarding the article by @tchambers, of all the critiques of the Fediverse, Mastodon, etc, it's nice to see one coming from love instead of a tech journalist that is not willing to understand, at this point of development, the Fediverse, esp Mastodon, has "been built by and for users and not fashy billionaires, it requires more direct participation, more tolerance for all the rough edges"

I think that is why the community is taking this critique to heart in the comments.

Today, the pest control person came out. I wanted termite coverage and regular mice and spider, etc plan.

He looked around, did his inspection and said we were fine and how we had been managing things would be better than getting into an expensive service plan that would do what we were doing at four or five times the cost.

Amazing to find a service provider that would do such a thing.

I which he did home remodeling, HVAC, car repairs, etc with that much honesty.

He rooted around, too, trying to find a problem to treat professionally, inside and outside the house.

Reading my news feeds this week, I noticed throughout the US, grocery workers, largely represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), are voting to approve strikes.

The workers are negotiating new contracts. Some are getting them, some are not and voting to approve striking.

Inflation my ass!

I am keeping an eye on voters registration of ppl I know since the Ohio GOP is on a roll of removing people.

The most vocal anti-Trumper I know in real life hasn't voted since 2016.

They went on a wild tangent today and I brought this fact up.

I basically said, STFU about it to me and vote.

I said your words to me about it means nothing and I am not going to participate in you bitching about politics until you do something about it.

I'm sick of these people.

@jacklaridian Agree mostly, but I know one person who would go to an event or protest due to peer pressure or to save face when asked but doesn't have the time to vote or keeps putting it off until it's too late and the election is over. I would say the percentage is low, though.

Friday, 60 veterans were detained following veterans protest against Army parade on Capitol Hill, 1 injured

The group had just concluded a protest in front of the Supreme Court building and were preparing to take photos near the Capitol building when the incident occurred.

The veterans sat down on the steps of the Capitol with signs that read "Veterans say military off our streets" and "Money for people, not parades."

News cameras caught the moment officers standing behind another gate on the steps of the Capitol building detained several people, and pushed one woman veteran down the steps.

@HistoPol 4.4 has been out for a while in nightly and now beta. You are on it now and have been for several months as test subjects on Mastodon.Social. Other instances installed it, also. I've been meaning to install it for a couple months. I'm going to install it a little later today since it was released today in beta and not nightly.

I was just curious if their was a noticeable change.

I think the tempus is actually referring to the actual official version release for all instances and is simply software dev speak.

Can you go to your profile settings and see if the option to turn off quote posts is there? Curious if it is, esp if you aren't seeing any
