@HistoPol @christinkallama @w7voa The link you sent was interesting (history was my 3rd Abitur subject after (obviously) math and physics) in that it mentions the Night of the Long Knives. I think we’ll see something similar here. Trump clearly chose the oligarchs, which leaves Bannon and the MAGA true believers on the more anti-capitalist side. Once they’ll find out they’ve been shafted, it’ll be interesting to see how this will play out.

@HistoPol @w7voa Well, I’m a scientist, but not that kind of scientist. I am, however, a German, whose family did suffer under the Nazis (albeit not as much as many others), which is why I offered this translation. Let the historians of Mastodon chime in.

@HistoPol @w7voa Gleichschaltung is definitely the right word here, but “streamlining” is too harmless of a translation. “Bringing to heel” is more appropriate.

So after Canvas was screaming at my LaTeX documents again for being inaccessible, I searched to see whether there's any progress on that front. Looks like there is.

I shall try this out as soon as I can and see what that does to my documents' accessibility ratings.

@phildini Depending on your definition of “modern”. I think what we're seeing is #enshittification, and that would have happend with or without ZIRP (for those listeners just joining us, that’s Zero Interest Rate Policy, at least I assume). I think non-free open-source software is prone to that, but that's exactly why the #GPL and #AfferoGPL exist and predate the open-source definition, and that's why I also prefer those for my own projects. YMMV, so don’t start any religious wars over it.

Is there a way to embed #PeerTube videos seamlessly into a post?

@freemo Other than mention it it the account metadata, is there a way to link the two accounts on the Mastodon and Peertube instance? Or is this one of the things where I should move to an instance that provides both services at the same time? I kind of like #DiodeZone, though.

@colinsmatt11 @freemo I don't mind not having SSO, I do use a password manager and I will get a #YubiKey eventually, but it's more about managing identity, i.e. that all these accounts represent the same actual person. Sort of like a verified UUID that can be used to establish that link.
