I think what we're seeing is #enshittification, and that would have happend with or without ZIRP (for those listeners just joining us, that’s Zero Interest Rate Policy, at least I assume). I think non-free open-source software is prone to that, but that's exactly why the #GPL and #AfferoGPL exist and predate the open-source definition, and that's why I also prefer those for my own projects. YMMV, so don’t start any religious wars over it.
