@chris It has improved! The sqlite database is still encrypted the same way but now the value in the JSON key file is encrypted with a password stored in the Keychain. Malware should not be able to read it now.
When I checked it was still storing attachments unencrypted but I tested by using the saved / notes / send message to self feature so perhaps somehow that's a different codepath and they skipped it, but there was a huge commit in their repo that showed they would be encrypting attachments
@chris > Sharing a Zillow listing for a condo in Saint Petersburg, Florida, Gerli pointed out that the seller had cut their asking price by $472,000, from $1,187,400 in late January to $715,000 on August 10—a 40 percent reduction from the original price.
I want to see the entire economy collapse from transportation and logistics grinding to a halt as fuel is no longer available
I want to see energy prices so high people freeze to death in the winter and die of heat strokes in the summer EVERYWHERE, not just in the poorest communities
I want to see famine from crop failures
I want to see mass outbreaks of disease from the lack of plastics for food packaging or medical use
I want to see the healthcare industry collapse with medicines and technology completely unavailable
I want to see abject poverty take hold of the suburbs like never seen before
I want to see products people depend on every day suddenly disappear
I want to see people beg for the life they used to have because they didn't understand what they were demanding
@sun I think movies in general are in a slump since COVID and if anything the last couple years was just a dead cat bounce
I used to go to the movies all the time, all the way up to COVID. First year dating my wife? 52 movies lol
Going to movies is just burned into my behavior. It's what we did for entertainment because not much else was around.
But things got really bad in the late 2010's with quality of the theater experience tanking and quality of the home viewing experience increasing a lot
I have been to ONE movie since I moved to Miami. The audio was broken, I couldn't hear most of the movie. So I just don't go anymore and there's also no convenient nearby locations either.
@mint there may be a couple things we can move out of MRFs but I think this discussion has to happen to make everyone understand exactly what these do and that they're basically a firewall/ACL/content normalization policy set by the admin and really shouldn't be possible to bypass for security purposes
it's like we've shot our wad on the superhero movies and someone said "well theres's a few good videogame IPs out there, let's do those now" but yeah -- for some of these it's too late
I didn't learn until recently that the actors made no money on LOTR movies, Kate Blanchett talked about it in interview too. Said something like she got paid in sandwiches and that's it, no residuals or anything.
@sun but really though you're asking investors to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a movie with an actor/actress nobody has heard of and has no established fanbase
@mint@phnt the I/O should really be minimal which is what's baffling
it is possible to make Oban specifically use a dedicated SQLite database in newer releases (a dedicated postgres is possible too, of course)
but let's roll back to the Oban version you never had issues with and work from there. If it still has problems we know it's something else (Postgrex?)
@sun but does it actually matter in the context of the story or are you just being subconsciously misogynist about it because the young hot piece of ass character isn't a young hot piece of ass but an older woman pretending to be so?
it's an apocalypse/wasteland universe, not like there's a whole lot of opportunity for people to grow and mature into adulthood so it make sense that she'd act the same way right?
