     it's an apocalypse/wasteland universe, not like there's a whole lot of opportunity for people to grow and mature into adulthood so it make sense that she'd act the same way right?

     @feld I am 100% ok with women actresses and also wish that movies had more older women actresses. It's a fine line saying "women should act age-appropriate".
     
     I have the same criicism with the barbie movie where they got barbie and ken played by actors in their 40s (including male actor.) the characters have a canonical age and they act that age. Just give the role to a younger person and give them a chance to be famous instead of ramming a famous middle aged person in there.

     @feld incidentally, this movie might have lost more money than any other movie in history, they probably should have not spent their budget on megastars for it, or more likely not even made it (my gamer friends say its 10 years too late to capitalize on game popularity.) it cost 110 mil before marketing and so far has made 8 mil.

     @feld I'm not, I just wanted to say I basically agree with you I just think it wasn't great casting in this case. I want more movies with older actresses, it sucks how it's harder for women to keep their career going.

     it's like we've shot our wad on the superhero movies and someone said "well theres's a few good videogame IPs out there, let's do those now" but yeah -- for some of these it's too late
     
     I didn't learn until recently that the actors made no money on LOTR movies, Kate Blanchett talked about it in interview too. Said something like she got paid in sandwiches and that's it, no residuals or anything.

     @sun I think movies in general are in a slump since COVID and if anything the last couple years was just a dead cat bounce
     
     I used to go to the movies all the time, all the way up to COVID. First year dating my wife? 52 movies lol
     
     Going to movies is just burned into my behavior. It's what we did for entertainment because not much else was around.
     
     But things got really bad in the late 2010's with quality of the theater experience tanking and quality of the home viewing experience increasing a lot
     
     I have been to ONE movie since I moved to Miami. The audio was broken, I couldn't hear most of the movie. So I just don't go anymore and there's also no convenient nearby locations either.
