@Mabande Being a developer, I know projects may have several priorities and not all can be implemented all at once. Usually it comes down to available time and resources, where "low hanging fruits" are usually picked for implementation for current sprints or rc's. With that said, I wished project leaders could prioritize better though. In my experience, they usually pick this priority: Security > Severe bug fixes > Planned features > UX > Bug/quirk fixes > Backlog
Still complaining why feature X isn't available in Mastodon and that development is too slow?
Why not put your money where your mouth is and donate to the development? You can do a single donation or join their Patreon.
While you're on it, why not donate to your local instance? Running a server ain't free, even for me who's running a small personal instance from my garage.
Found bugs or have feature requests? Hit the dev team up on GitHub! Developer? Contribute code!
Det kommer så småningom sluta som i USA där man tvingas gå sjuk och/eller dö för att man inte har råd med läkemedel. Det finns väl för fan andra områden man kan strypa åt än hos de som redan har det sämre.
A thought just hit me. Since ChromeOS isn't technically running a WM, I'm going to try to install Windowmaker. That would be awesome if I could get the dock to work.
I sometimes read articles about how people are leaving Twitter for BlueSky. It makes me a bit sad because I'm really rooting for Mastodon and ActivityPub.
But then again, I'm reminded of the IM wars of the 00's: AOL vs ICQ vs MSN. Do you know what survived those three services? XMPP, called Jabber back then. Fucking IRC, a technology that turned 38 years this year.
You know why? Because open protocols are not controlled by a company deciding whether or not a product is profitable or not.
