@darnell its true that defence spending and production with Apollo, Space Shuttle,... being also defence projects, have stabilized the US and prevented to fall back to pre WWII poverty. (Of course backed by a strong dollar and the ability to sell debts to finance the cardhouse).

No need to tell also that modern chip technology was at most financed by the US defence system. So silicon valley would not exist without it.

The question is: how long that scheme will continue to work?

Quadruple production means high costs. somebody needs to pay for that with real money or debts.

@darnell huge batteries can fill the gaps much better than gas.

Scientists have calculated and published it for many years now: Europa can supply itself fine with wind, solar, water, ...

there are many ideas. China just these days has finished a gigantic air pressure storage facility.

in France there is a interesting wind to H2 project...

like coal and nuclear heating up rivers we now build huge heat pumps to get energy out of the rivers (which cools them also...)

fusion reactors might also come, but the realistic outlook is at least 40-50 years due unsolved problems. And the costs will be high.

Last year a calculation circulated: if we had more solar and wind installed already + power lines for distribution elec. power in Germany could be 20-25% cheaper! With existing technology.

@darnell nuclear its not an option. Current estimations are from 50-100 years fuel depending on the usage

Also nuclear is intensive expensive. And its unsafe - even the most modern plants (none of it in the US!) still have immense risks

nurclar plants are also not Environment friendly. They are just a slightly better than gas

And watch german: a plant which has run for 25 years (and then was a wreck!) is now diassembled for 30 years and very much not finished!

And small reactors like advertised? They are less efficient than big ones and consume more raw material - so you also get more nuclear waste! Thats math of grade 5-6 (the ratio of surface to volume) - pretty simple and easy. You do not need to be a scientist to know: small reactors are just startup bullshit to get investor money.

@darnell Sorry: :-) no, its not. Its normal for Europe to protect its citizens from external threads. Its something we expect from our governments!

@Klima_Mahner Das ist so natürlich falsch. Fast jedes Experiment der letzten Jahrzehnte hat letztlich seine vorhergesagten Ziele erreicht, man lernt und entwickelt die notwendige Technik. Klar sagen auch Experten (Hartmut Zohm) das es noch sagen wir 40 Jahre dauert bis ein erster Reaktor läuft der Energie produziert, aber Stand heute ist die Aussicht so, das es funktionieren wird.

Was natürlich falsch ist - auch das sagen die Experten, das es billig wird. Es ist bestenfalls eine Ergänzung dort wo viel Energie benötigt wird.

Aber dieses negative Gebashe ist genau so falsch wie die Aussagen der Politik...

Und selbst wenn es nicht funktionieren sollte ist es wertvolle Forschung die sehr viele wertvolle Technologien hervorgebracht hat.

@vegos_f06 @Klima_Mahner es gibt keine CO2-Freie Technik... auch PV und Windkraft schädigen den Planeten durch Herstellung der Materialien, Reflexion von Energie in die Atmosphäre, Entnahme von Energie aus dem Wind...

Daher ist Energieeffizienz ganz wichtig. so wie die TU (?) Darmstadt mal gezeigt hat, man kann viele Industrieanlagen energiesparender bauen. Leider macht das niemand!

Aber auch in Zukunft müssen wir Metalle schmelzen, Chemie betreiben...

@tagesschau ich verstehe da nicht den Anreiz für die Betreiber den Regierungen niedrige Preise zuzugestehen und "Übergewinne" an die Staaten ab zu führen. Oder zumindest an Deutschland wie es vorhin im TV hieß.

Warum sollen Windparkbetreiber nicht auch fette Gewinne einfahren dürfen?

2ter Wasserzählerwechsel in diesem Jahr.

Unsere Gemeinde (#CDU) hat in Ihrer Weisheit beschlossen das wir elektr. Wasserzähler benötigen. Weil das angeblich günstiger ist.

Verbaut wird eine Plastikscheiße, bei der schon der Monteur Angst hat sie zu beschädigen. Hat 3 mal getestet ob sie dicht ist.

Die alten Metallzähler hat der Monteur 1x angezogen und wusste das es passt. Er wusste auch das im Zweifel das Metall stärker war als er, er es also kaum beschädigen kann.

Dafür kann jetzt die Gemeinde meinen Verbrauch alle paar Minuten tracken.

OK, natürlich habe ich die rechtsschwarzen hier nie gewählt, trotzdem ärgert es mich maßlos das der Bürger hier zu solchen Dingen gezwungen wird.

Ich glaub Maßnahme 1 ist das Drecksding mit Alufolie einwickeln
